Lakeview Deli has built a reputation that is far from flattering. Once considered a quaint local spot, it has devolved into a disgraceful establishment that no longer deserves the support of the community. The food quality is appalling, often served cold, undercooked, or suspiciously stale. Basic standards of cleanliness seem to be ignored, with dirty tables, sticky floors, and a strong, unpleasant odor greeting customers upon arrival. Such negligence is inexcusable for any business claiming to serve the public.
Beyond the physical condition of the deli, the behavior of the staff only adds to its disgrace. Employees appear disinterested and unprofessional, often seen arguing with each other or ignoring customers altogether. Orders are frequently messed up, and rather than apologizing, the staff responds with thinly-veiled annoyance or outright rudeness. It’s as though customer satisfaction is the last thing on their minds, which is baffling for a business that survives on service.
The disrespect at Lakeview Deli isn’t limited to poor customer service—it extends to the way they treat the community at large. Prices are inflated for substandard products, and they often run out of advertised items without updating the menu or informing patrons until after they’ve paid. This practice feels deceptive, as if they prioritize quick profits over honest transactions. For a neighborhood deli, such disregard for the people who keep the lights on is unacceptable and shameful.
In short, Lakeview Deli has become a symbol of everything a local eatery should not be. Disgraceful in presentation, disgusting in hygiene, and disrespectful in conduct, it is a place that has clearly lost its way. The community deserves better—somewhere clean, courteous, and committed to quality. Until major changes are made, Lakeview Deli should be avoided and held accountable for its blatant disregard for basic decency. TUNG TUNG TUNG TUNG...
Read moreThe Original Family that owned it a long time ago were Jack and Ginny Gable, when it was called 'The Gay Bull' - a name created from their own last name, it referenced a cartoon-style character atop the sign outside the store, A big old happy steer with a ring in his nose, aka "the Queer Steer"- and despite the nickname, it really was back in the day when gay was just as likely to refer to a happy mood, and before politically correct labels and same-sex marriage - way before. And what a gem of Dingman's Ferry it was! Jack and Ginny owned it for 30 years I believe. It was a general store with a butcher counter & full service deli, there was a dairy bar (open in the summer only!) with soft serve ice cream, cheese steaks and fries, with a few picnic tables outside. They added video rental when you could still choose between vhs and betamax One of my favorite parts of the store was the live bait shop - a small shed outside with minnows in live bait tanks for fishing. When I was a very young girl they'd let me catch the minnows for an order with a little net as long as I was quick and careful about it.
Jack and Ginny lived upstairs, where they raised their kids, and then grandkids. They were a fixture of the community. They knew everyone by name, and Jack was known to be a solid hard-working family man and if you knew him well and needed it he'd make sure your family had food on the table til payday, or come and plow you out if you got stuck somewhere down the road. And still take the time to show his granddaughter that he could coax bumble bees by the back deck to land on a outstretched index finger with just a little gentle patience. They just don't make 'em like him anymore, not...

I have to sat the other day I tried their chicken noodle soup & it's AMAZING. Definitely HOME MADE, & they don't give you just the nasty leftover shreds of chicken. This is LOADED with fresh chicken. I'll be honest, if I had to critique it at all, I would say there's NOT enough macaroni! No one ever complains about that, lol (and I LOVE carrots, so the more of that, the better too), but as far as flavor, consistency, you CAN NOT beat it. We also tried their Italian Combo heroes. DELISH! Bread wad fresh, cold cuts fresh & was made perfectly! And if I didn't say it in my original review, the employees there are ALWAYS as nice as can be!
I started coming to this deli about 15 years ago. Different owners then I believe BUT same great chocolate brownies I had to bring home to my daughter EVERY WEEKEND when I left PA to go back to LI. I would always order one of their awesome heros. Now my husband & I have moved back to PA permanently & we are HOOKED on their roast beef hero! Nice rare roast beef, tasty & fresh! I love mine with just extra mayo & salt & pepper. My husband loves the Roast Beef Delight! The team behind the deli counter are TOP SHELF hard workers who make this deli as popular as it is. THANK YOU to the counter ppl! The stores cold cuts are always fresh, their hot foods are delicious! They have a small selection of vegetables that are always fresh & the owners are nice people!
I think me & my husband will be calling down to Lakeview at least 2x a week for our favorite sandwiches from now on!!! It's worth the ride down the mountain!!
