Kelly's Tavern — Restaurant in Delaware

Hi my name is alicia nd i am here at Kelly's tavern rite now. Overall with my experience here is over all okay. Shrimp is amazing especially with butter n stead of tartar sauce. Employees are very nice except for the woman with short blond hair in her mid 30s, stright up stuck up snobby b.i.och!!! Walking around here acting like she's better then everyone else!! I mean thats the way she is presenting her self. Sweetie yoi aint cute especially with ur snobby ass attitude!!! Asked to place an order she totally ingored me after saying excuse me 3 times, like really i should only have to say excuse me once! Overall for my first experiance being a first timer here i am satisfied with everything from the food to customer service. My only complaint is the blond chick with the camo shirt!! She needs to be fired! Defiantly not a people person atleast thats how im taking it. Just highly disrespectful. In a way i would recommend this place to friends and family and ect. Looks like a dive bar. Clientele appears all local. We came on a Wednesday night where they have the steamed shrimp special. Place was packed. People filed in quickly ate and left knowing exactly what they were doing. Our server Nancy who is a nurse by profession during the day has been working there for 46 years! She has super powers! As we were trying to figure out the place she just appeared! Our drinks and orders came quickly. Beer on tap was chilled perfectly in a frosted mug and tasted fresh. The shrimp was fantastic the mahi bites tender and the Lima bean soup full of flavor. We even were lucky enough to get soft shelled crab. The strategic mistake we made was not to inquire about fresh oysters first as we were distracted by the shrimp special. We were already full by the time we found out. Next time! Kelly’s Tavern in Port Penn is an absolute hidden gem! Hands down the best seafood I had my entire vacation. I ordered the crabcake and the cream of crab soup, and both were outstanding. The crabcake was packed with fresh lump crab, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right—no filler, just pure flavor. The cream of crab soup was rich, velvety, and loaded with crab in every spoonful.

On top of the incredible food, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff made me feel right at home. This is the kind of place that reminds you why local taverns are so special.

If you’re anywhere near Port Penn, do yourself a favor and stop at Kelly’s Tavern—you won’t find better seafood. I’ll be dreaming about that crabcake until...
