10/22/24 Update: After being a regular diner here, I have to say the service has went down immensely. Our last visit was on a Saturday night, which in our area normally meant an hour wait here, but used to be worth it. We were seated right away this time, which was a big surprise to my party, but maybe should have been a red flag for us. We soon found out why. Even though the restaurant had open seats, we were always looking for our waiter. Now here comes the list of things that went wrong this visit: The soda was completely flat. we were told they were out of straws. My wife ordered their BLT (Bacon Lettuce & Tuna). After about 25 minutes, the waiter came out and asked which one of us ordered fish tacos? None of us had, but somehow their kitchen confused it. Had to wait another 15 minutes for the order to be remade. It came out with no bacon, and no sauce as described on the menu. My wife asked for bacon, and some tartar sauce (since it was missing). When we got the bill, they charged us extra for the tartar sauce, and another spicy sauce which we never ordered. The waiter got the manager, and she informed us that she was making a "special exception" for us, but they normally charge for extra sauces. We tried to explain the multiple errors they had made, and that we weren't told we would be charged for sauce that we were supposed to get, but she just got defensive and said it's on the menu and walked away. I've honestly had better customer service at Chick-fil-a. If getting more emtpy seats in your restaurant is your goal, then I say mission accomplished. Definitley won't be back anytime soon.
Original Post: Great burgers! Sometimes the wait is long getting in here, but if you go a little before the dinner time rush, you can normally get in...

Going to this place with moderate expectations considering other restraunts in this price range, I will admit it seemed a little underwhelming. The appetizers were really good (deep fried pickles and giant Bavarian pretzel), but once the dinners arrived it was an instant let down seeing a roughly midsized sandwich and three quarters a plate of OK-ish French fries.
The chicken cordon blu wasn't very big, wasn't all that flavorful and was a tad dry, it was ok but it didn't have anything that really stood it apart from even most fast food chicken sandwiches. Especially not at nearly $10 when your paying for a plate of fries, and this seems to go for all of the plates, I think they should include at least 2 sides.
The tuna burger wasn't seasoned at all so it was fairly bland and relied completely on the sauce to give it flavor. The Actual grade of tuna was really questionable In no way did it seem worth $15.
The French dip was pretty good, it had pretty genuine roast beef and a decent amount.
Now I would have given this 3 - 4 stars, however I deducted 1 star per piece of hair was found in our food. 3 different plates had a hair that was found actually IN the food, there's no reason this should happen especially in a restaurant apparently rated as high as this. I've never once had hair in my food from a quility restaurant before, even lower rated chains, and that makes me question their sanitary and...
Read moreI have to say I am really unsure why this is in the top 10 restaurants in Kent County. Let me back up for perspective: we have dined at restaurants around the world (Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Malta, England, Spain, NJ, MN, CO, PA, NY, FL, NC, TX, CA, etc). Usually the best restaurants are off the beaten path, mom and pop joints. So as a new Delawarean, I was excited to try the unassuming Restaurant 55. I was so excited based on the reviews and hype, that I ordered a bunch of sides to go with my cheeseburger just to try them since they all sounded delicious. Unfortunately, literally every item lacked seasoning and I left sad knowing that the best place for a burger in Kent would be better from my kitchen. I appreciate the local sourcing of meat, but it should still have at the very least some salt to bring out the flavor. I found the burger beyond bland. If it weren't for the toppings I would likely not have eaten half of it. Sides were underwhelming and the prices are out of line for alcoholic beverages. I hate to leave a poor review, but I'm not the only one who was deceived by the hype, so I'm just planting the seed of scepticism for those incoming well traveled and dined...
