La Baja Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Des Moines

We had a really good experience here. We had excellent service and their authentic Mexican food is a must try. I have been stalking the pictures on Facebook and honestly never had a lot of what they offer but so definitely wanting to try. I loved their salsa that they bring out for the chips. They had really good flavor. Before they brought the food he brought out two more salsas. I was already thinking green sauce? And like he read my mind, he brought out two different a bottled green and dark red one. The green salsa was my favorite. The dark red one was pretty hot. It was instant almost sweat on my forehead! He had ordered Carne asada and I decided to do a la carte and got a gordita, flour taco and empanada all with chicken along with refried beans. Wow. Where do I start. First of all service was subpar— our waitress received Starbucks during our order and was not seen for most of the meal.. our red beer michelada was very late in coming it was served with our food... the birra tacos queso tacos were dry and to have the soup that normally come standard had to be ordered separately as an up charge ... they also didn’t look like the pictures I had been seeing ... enchiladas were also dry and not covered in red sauce as I had seen pictured ...everything lacked Flavor and honestly was pricey for the lackluster food received ... everyone kept talking about how authentic this place was… But honestly you can’t call something authentic just because they offer it on the menu but when you taste it the authentic flavor...

DON'T THE EVERY EAT HERE.....WE HAD worst service ever. When we got there, no where sit, with alot dirty tables. We had to clean our own table so we can sit. We had to about 30 minutes to someone to ask if we ready. They even ask us if want something to drink. We order drink. And finish and never ask we need refill. But that's not all. Our food never came out. So we paid for drinks and left all 2 hours later , and we never received out food.. they said that they were short handed and they were only two cook in the kitchen.
