Cute shop, good chocolate. Expensive even for a small, family owned shop. The service was not friendly and snappish. This is my 2nd time bringing my kiddo to look and buy because she is little and curious about the shop as we are local. I had hoped the service the last time was a one off and maybe it would be a more pleasant experience. It wasn't. I brought my 6 year old as a reward and she wanted to pick something out for herself. Was greeted with a "what do you want?" And when I said she was here to choose a reward- we got a "well she can look here" and pointed to the display case. My daughter was looking at the prepackaged to go chocolate and not touching or doing anything except looking with her eyes. I said she might want one of these to which the response was "well she can look there". Yeah-no kidding. My daughter selected some caramels and I picked up some dark chocolate toffee. We set them down where one would assume you would -on the counter and told "put them up here" which was the display case. Was not told my total and just told "here" to which I thought she meant move the chocolates closer. She responded "no-your credit card" & I had to ask for the total. It was almost $24 for two small containers. I paid, was not thanked or offered a bag. It is not a one off, the rude service from the last time seems to be the way you will be treated. At least this time there wasn't the lecture about chocolate we received last time. The shop is cute, and quaint. The chocolate is fine, nothing extraordinary and quite expensive and the service is consistently rude and not at all friendly.
Edit after owner's response- I did not misconstrue her commands (not suggestions, they were commands). As for cameras- record away, I know how to conduct myself in a way to be a good example to my child. The tone she used was rude and condescending, offering no real help or kindness, nor any quality customer service. Play back the recording and listen to yourself and see if you behaved in any welcoming way or with any kindness. I have left hundreds of Google reviews and infrequently are they negative. This is small town Queen of My Own Shop behavior because there have been no higher ups to keep rude behaviors in check. Definitely do not recommend this as a place to spend your hard...

Business is out of the home located in a small town, family owned and operated for a number of generations. (since early 1900's?) Exactly what I look for!! But wait - there's more!! Pulled up and saw the sign also said CHOCOLATES & HOMEMADE/HANDCRAFTED ice cream ---I RAN to the door!! The home is adorable, clean-- love the decor very inviting! Walked down some stairs and was treated to a wonderful - old fashioned small town American treat! Was greeted and treated to some fantastic, fresh chocolate-covered toffee! EVERYTHING is handmade daily and natural ----sure was---you can taste it! Had the chocolate brownie ice cream and some chocolates. Thoroughly enjoyed ---another "plus" everything was NOT tooo sweet! Most places add too much sugar! Perfect! Wish there were more places like this! "Mom 'n Pops" are the heart of America! ...
Read moreBe advised, to get to the chocolate shop's store, you have to go down a set of stairs, basically the basement level. If you have disabilities that are complicated by stairs, this could be an issue. The shop is very small, only room for a few people at a time. The chocolates are very good. Hand made using Swiss chocolate. They nice little variety to choose from. It is a bit pricey for the location, but the quality is there. I've read other reviews that said the lady behind the counter was rude. I didn't get that, but, let's just say she has a different personality. She's give good information, answers questions, and gives samples. If you're in the area, give them a try and support...
