Do NOT stop here if you are traveling. They did not even have sweet tea or a public restroom. Sign on the door states “NO PUBLIC RESTROOM.” How can you be southern and in Texas if you do not have sweet tea and be hospitable. Southern hospitality is not in this place. Definitely not on Mondays when we went. If you are a local you should be fine. The locals had real glasses. We got to go cups. The place was busy when we went inside. There were more people that came in after us and sit in a separate dining area. EVERYONE before us and after us got their food and we was still sitting waiting on our entrees. All we ordered was 2 lunch specials and a hamburger steak. We sit for over 50 minutes and only received our salads and drinks. We were on a tight schedule and asked the waitress if we could get our plates to go and the cook got soooo mad she basically flung our food in to the to go boxes. And then the waitress got upset when we told her we was on a time crunch and that everyone else got their food and her exact words were “they ordered cheeseburgers and I’m sorry to admit that they are precooked”. The only reason they got a one was because if I didn’t I could not...
Read moreIf I could put a star for food I’d give them a five but for service I wouldn’t give any stars so I gave a one for that reason. The food was great but we waited an hour and a half for our food. We waited because we were assured they were coming out with our food while we watched five tables of folks come in 30 to 45 minutes after us sit down, get their drinks, then their food, eat and leave and still we had no food. We were a large group of 15 and when I asked one of the waitresses what was going on her answer was that they had to rewrite our order and it got placed behind everyone else’s orders. If you want good food and don’t care about service this your place, if you’d like both service and good food, try...
Read moreAs I drove by Sunday morning and seen a line of cars sitting in front of the Cafe, I told myself I need to try this little hole in the wall cafe. Well sorry for no pictures, I was hungry. But the cheeseburger on Texas Toast was cooked perfectly, leaving it juicy and fulfilling in taste and size. Even though they didn't have sweet tea, but when you have tea a sweet lemonade mix (Arnold Palmer) it was a thirst quencher. The tea tasted freshly brewed. As I listen to the locals come in, I can only imagine how other dishes taste delightful from how the locals are ordering with out menus. I will be recommending this place to others and bringing my wife back by here. #DTNLivingLife...
