Disappointing Experience – Unfortunately Not Recommended

We arrived at the restaurant shortly after 5 PM – it was still Happy Hour. The staff was friendly, and we placed our order shortly after being seated.

However, we had to wait over an hour and a half for our food, which is far too long, even on a busy night. During that time, we ordered a few beers. We had specifically asked for Domestic Beer at the Happy Hour price of $2.99. The waitress showed us various options from the fridge, and we picked from those.

When the food finally arrived, we were so hungry that we forgot to take any photos. We had two cheeseburgers each and onion rings. Sadly, the burgers were a big disappointment: – The patty was barely 2 mm thick, – the cheese wasn’t even melted, – and the food was completely cold.

We also noticed similar issues at other tables nearby. At one table, for example, the woman received her food about 30 minutes before her companion. He looked increasingly frustrated. As they left, they jokingly said to us, “Should we bring you some peanuts while you wait?”

Then came the unpleasant surprise on the bill: Despite asking beforehand, we were charged $5.99 per beer instead of $2.99. There was no clear explanation when we questioned it.

We’ve been traveling through the U.S. for nearly two weeks now – and this was by far the worst meal we’ve had so far.

Bottom line: Friendly staff isn’t enough when the wait time, food quality, and billing don’t match expectations. Sadly, we can’t...

I visited the Pinehurst Lodge on Friday 6/20 and after the experience I wish I had just fasted. After talking to a local, it appears that a new owner has taken over and has led to this terrible experience. Therefore- beware of the high review!! That was for the previous owner’s establishment and not the terrible place that it is now.

After ordering a beer (cans/bottles only), my friend and I had to flag down a waitress ~15 minutes later to put in our food order. During this time, we witnessed three different parties come in, sit down, review the menu, and leave. The menu is an interesting mix of American and Indian faire, but also seemed disorderly and did not appeal to the masses. My friend and I only ordered onion rings and chicken tenders as apps. After 45 minutes had passed (and we noticed every other occupied table also waiting for food, and one table had even left while waiting), we inquired about our food. We tried to do this before but there wasn’t a waiter/waitress to be found. She promised that she had JUST put in our order! After 20 more minutes and a promise of a discount, we finally received our food. The food was tasty, but waiting 90 mins for onion rings and chicken tenders was unacceptable. In sum: service is incredibly slow and poor, the menu is strange/multiple parties walked out, and the beer selection is poor and not...

Many of the older reviews on Google were very high so was expecting good things. Instead I was very disappointed. Took over an hour to get our food after we put our food order in. We only ordered chicken tenders and onion rings. Staff was not very attentive. One bartender was on his phone the whole time at the bar, not paying attention to customers at all really. The menu was very unique with lots of american, thai, and indian options. Many people left the restaurant just after seeing the menu. Several others left after not even getting asked their drink order after 30 min. Very disappointed with the beer selection here too, was hoping for more California beers. In comparison the markets in the national parks had about 3 times the California beer selection of here. The "chicken tenders" were very good once they arrived, hand battered and breaded, very fresh. But they didn't seem like tenderloin cuts but instead breasts cut in half. Wait staff did offer a free beer after an hour of waiting for food. I was told by locals the restaurant has new management and that the place has changed a lot since then. This was my first time being here though so I can't totally speak to if the changes are...

We recently stopped by the Pinehurst Lodge restaurant during a visit to Kings Canyon National Park and had a couple nice burgers here. Opening hours 12-9pm daily. This is a western saloon type place with nice atmosphere, friendly service and pretty good burgers. Menu has a few other items like salads, wraps and others but mostly this is a burger place. Patties were grilled well, toppings fresh and buns just fine. Served with onion rings and fries, these burgers were pretty good and reasonably priced. They have a fair enough drink menu as well. We enjoyed Sierra Nevada Stout and Torpedo with our burgers, preferring the stout. Overall, the Pinehurst Lodge was a good meal, a nice change of pace from eating a couple meals in the national park. We'd stop here another round if driving through the area.

The owners of Pinehurst Lodge are incredible! Originally from San Diego Jay and Linda create a welcoming environment inside this century old landmark. The locals are kind and friendly, who treat tourists with kindness and act as unofficial mountain/area guides. I highly recommend the Jalapeño burger, with its hand cut French fries. Just the right amount of spice and heat from the peppers, combined with a soft and cooling aioli. My personal favorite dish here though, I’d actually a side of Linda “Homemade” salsa. Of which she will personally prepare for you upon request. The Grill also serves the community as a Hip Camp offering spaces that can accommodate RVs, as well as tents. They have a fantastically “hot” outdoor shower on premise. And two canine residents Holiday and Cisco.

Went here on a whim after a short hike at Kings Canyon. The place has a lot of character, channeling saloon vibes very well and feeling like a neighborhood hangout. They have an eclectic mix of offerings including karaoke, a pool table, horseshoes, a patio, and multiple indoor rooms for hanging out. The bartender told us about the new owners; the husband has a band, Good Ol’ Boyz, and the wife is very involved in developing the property; there is now a general store, cabins and an Airbnb. They also carry local wines and beers, a pretty full bar, and food service. We had the onion rings and they were excellent. There aren’t many other places nearby, so I highly recommend stopping in for a drink or to just hangout.
