Let's start with the food. Ordered the catfish and shrimp. Serving size was not too small and not too much. Shrimp were pretty good size. Fish was fresh and properly cooked. Easy to get under cooked or burnt catfish around here. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the fries. Too under cooked for me, Plenty of fries though. The flavor of the shrimp was ok, the fish was very bland. Now I'm not saying it wasn't good fish, it was, but if you're expecting a heavily seasoned fillet you'll be disappointed. That said, I liked it for it's natural flavor. Hot sauce is available if you need it spicy. Had the crab cakes and meat pies for appetizers. Cakes were very good, looked burnt at first but they were not. The meat pies tasted straight out of the Sam's club bag. Again, not my style but they were cooked exactly right. Wife had chicken strips and they were awesome. Same fries tho, so same disappointment. 3rd in our party got the boiled shrimp basket. Had a few, best boiled shrimp I've had lately. Again, not very much seasoning just the flavor of the shrimp. Oh and they were de-veined shrimp... New one for me, could get spoiled there! Overall everyone in our group was very satisfied with the food. Sweet tea was just perfect too.... Now for the disappointment. Restaurant has polished concrete floors, aluminum chairs, metal roof. It's so loud inside that you can't hold a conversation with the person next to you. Every time a customer was seated or was leaving the sound of the aluminum chairs dragging across the floor was overwhelming. Everything was very clean. When a table was vacated they were very quick to clean and make ready for the next customer. Place was full too. Seems to be popular with locals. Overall we enjoyed the food and would definitely consider again for take out, but unfortunately its not...
Read moreThe good, the bad, and the ugly…. We were seated quickly. ✅ The building is clean and has plenty of space.✅ The table we were seated at was similar to a wooden panel but with spaces between each piece of wood. There really should have been a plexiglass top over the table. Money, keys, straws, anything- can fall thru the space and honestly it was just uncomfortable to sit at. ❌ The menu is VERY limited. Pretty much just fried food. ❌ Food came out in a decent time for the amount of people that were there. ✅ Disposable everything- no plates, plastic Tupperware like bowls for gumbo, styrofoam cups, plastic silverware. ❌ I ordered a large gumbo- was brought out in said plastic Tupperware like bowl with the lid still on. Literally felt like it had been warmed up in the microwave. Taste was not terrible, but the large was extremely small for the price, and no crackers. They said they had just run out. ❌ My husband ordered fried fish. He loves fried fish but could not finish his plate. Fish was greasy (grease clearly needed to be changed) and fries were cold. ❌ We both ordered water with our meals. Charged a $1 a piece for said water. ❌ Lastly, we had to waive the waitress down from across the room (taking her away from chatting with the men at the bar) to pay for our meal. ❌
Overall, was not a great experience and probably...
Read moreCame in on a Thursday night, maybe a total of 4 tables in the whole place. Super slow. Got seated quickly but that’s where it started going down hill. We ordered, my husband getting a blackened catfish meal, my son got a kids meal, and myself ordering boiled shrimp. Well… my husband and sons food comes out pretty quickly, Not mine though. The waitress said “it should be out in just a minute”…. About 5 mins passes and she comes back saying they JUST dropped my shrimp to boil, okay fine. My son had time to eat his pile of popcorn shrimp while I waited about 20 minutes for my boiled shrimp and my husbands foods going cold because he won’t eat until I have my food. We ended up just getting our food to go after we sat there for a while waiting. Waitress finally brought my shrimp after about 20 minutes. I got home to eat my shrimp and they were so overcooked and chewy that they were inedible. So we paid $50 for inedible shrimp and cold blackened fish.
We sadly will not be back for a while, if ever despite giving this place our business over other places in the area since it opened. Every time we’ve came with the owner not to be seen the service has been...
