Dorset Bakery — Restaurant in Dorset

My wife and I love bakeries and had never been to this one so we were excited to try a new place. When we arrived we noticed how nice the landscaping looked so give it one check at the door they explained all the covid rules for their establishment second check looked in saw two people which was cool because they could have up to four customers inside. We waited for the two people in front of us and when they were done my wife approached the glass display and was immediately told she had to stay 6 feet away so she backed up. I need to say no one was at the glass display but she complied any way. Then the problem started the lady lectured my wife about obeying the rules and would not stop finally I said if you do not want people within 6 feet of the counter you should put up a sign which she immediately said we have two and pointed to the one at the register that asked people to social distance while their and she said the second one was at the door. I pointed out it said social distance which refers to people and if they wanted people to know to stay six feet away from the counter she should have a sign saying that at which point she marched to the door coming within inches of me to get there, so much for social distancing. Once at the door she opened it so I could see it and I said it says 4 people no more did that it said must have mask did that and said social distance did that. She shook her head and said "OK" what do you want my wife said she would like the GF cup cake the lady said we do not have any today only chocolate muffins I said the vanilla one she said I said we do not have any so I said OK what does the GF stand for. We used Dorset Bakery for our wedding cake and wedding desserts. Everything we chose was absolutely delicious and the experience couldn’t have been better. Our semi-naked cake was made with vanilla cake and frosting, with one layer of peanut butter filling and one layer of coffee filling. Once cut, the cake disappeared so incredibly fast. It was so delicious. Ali’s vanilla cake is so soft and moist, it is the perfect pair for the flavored fillings. Beyond the cake, we chose mini cheesecakes (absolutely must have!!), strawberry shortcake shooters, cannoli shooters, and then 4 different types of cupcake: chocolate with peanut butter, vanilla with coffee, vanilla with cookies and cream, and maple bacon. The vanilla cupcakes are seriously the best, they just melt in your mouth. Beyond the delicious goods, working with Ali was a delight. We went in to visit her twice and were able to taste several combinations. The bakery itself is such a great spot for breakfast and a coffee, or lunch with a beer or wine. Ali was very helpful and very professional. Delivery and setup on the day of our wedding at Mountain Top Inn was mindless. We will absolutely be stopping in to see Ali at Dorset Bakery many times in our future.

The Dorset Bakery is amazing on so many levels - delicious sandwiches, pastries, and wedding cakes!!

Wedding cake: Chelsea, the head baker, is wonderful to work with and her creations are amazing! I brought to her a request to make an Oreo cookies and cream wedding cake and she did not bat an eye. In fact, she was thrilled to create it! I had guests all night complimenting our wedding cake and on top of it, it turned out beautiful! Highly recommend using the Dorset Bakery for your wedding cake (and desserts!) We had a dessert table too!

Everyday dining: Everything we've eaten here is delicious. You MUST try the grilled cheese + tomato soup. But any of their sandwiches are tasty. I also can't leave the bakery without trying one of their pastries or sweets. The variety of options they have is so much fun and I've never had something I didn't like. They also have wonderful indoor and outdoor dining so plenty of cozy spots to hang out or take to go.
