Clifford Lake Inn — Restaurant in Douglass Township

Our experience was memorable. We waited to be sat in the bar area, near a "Please wait to be seated" sign. After a few minutes we were redirected by the bartender to the center of the dining area to wait for the hostess. A few minutes later the hostess arrived and asked where we would like to sit, we stated "in the bar area". She then said "Oh, go ahead and pick any table". After waiting twice to be sat, I was not impressed, my husband just giggled and shrugged. After sitting our server was prompt with drinks and menus. However, after taking our order we waited 35 mins for our food and another drink. During this time the dinning area was still mostly empty, with the exception of the bar, that seats 6-7 & a 10 top that sat directly behind us. There were at least 6-8 green shirted workers huddled around the bar the entire time. I had a bacon cheeseburger & my husband a chicken bacon ranch wrap. My burger was completely blackened & burnt on all sides, the bacon on top was not in much better shape. I tried to carve off the burnt area of my burger and ended up with more thickened char pieces than edible burger. During this carving of the char, our server was no where in sight. My husband handed me a piece of chicken out of his wrap to try, not only was it plain tasting but also extremely dry and chalky. I reached for a drink to wash it down and realized there was nothing to drink from. We sat no less than 15 mins waiting for our server to come and check on us. When she finally did, she asked how it was to which my husband replied "dry". She said "oh, do you need a beer?" He said "Well yes, but what I mean is my wrap is super dry and plain and my wife's burger is completely burnt". She didn't know what to say, and seemed very surprised. They ended up comping my burger but we most likely will not be returning.

The only handicap accessible ramp we noticed was blocked by a table and chairs, at one point we witnessed an elderly man struggle to move the table and chairs so an elderly women in a wheelchair could get through

The menu was small and very over priced for the quality we experienced

My wife and I drove almost an hour from Breckenridge to this restaurant. The anticipation was high for a great experience. The view from every table was wonderful. Gorgeous location. The server was nice. The service time and food quality were the biggest downfall of Clifford Lake Inn. When we arrived we were the second couple in the door. The rest of the restaurant, inside and out, was empty. We were seated at a table whose top was loose and would pitch ten degrees in all directions wherever weight was put on it. I was afraid it would break and fall over before our meal was through. We were given menus, ordered drinks and then put in our appetizer order. Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. Finally our sweet chili shrimp arrived. My first bite clearly indicated to me that these are not house-made nor were they that fresh. I am an avid cook and foodie and can easily tell when a chef tries to serve me prepackaged fried shrimp. They were hard and devoid of much flavor save for the sweet chili sauce. Extremely disappointing. I ordered the Clifford Lake Burger, my wife ordered the Cajun Chicken Tortellini. Hers was decent from the single bite I had of it. My burger was not seasoned and was topped with mushrooms and onions which had been caramelized into mush. Not impressed with that either. We received not one refill on our drinks and were largely ignored over the rapidly filling veranda outside. We finished our meal and waited for our check. And waited. And waited some more. The manager finally saw me looking around for our server and made her way to our table to ask me if I needed anything, but not without unnecessarily adding "I see you over here shaking your head at me." Nice. Didn't detect any sarcasm there at all.

It took us an hour and fifteen minutes for lunch, start to finish. Far too long. WAY too expensive for food quality you would expect from a concession stand. $58 before tip.
