This place has a Mississippi "Bayou of the Midwest" Oasis feel to it. It's tucked back neatly in the woods and opens up to a shanty on the Mississippi look and decor with some modern twists inside. The atmosphere sets itself, the service was alright but seemed rushed; and our particular server forgot a few things here and there... but I'll chalk that up to what must've been a busy night for her. It was a packed parking lot and busy all around. We had a great time with our table for 7 plus a baby. The food was all good, and the price point seems alright with a catch that most meals have an upcharge for sides like fries, etc... the place could use another outdoor deck extension; preferably overlooking the riverside of the building with some great views, this would open up more seating for the dining crowd and add some river romanticism elements to the place. There are actually available quarters right in the Oasis circle. There are a few airbnb houseboats of good quality. The one thing to watch out for is the weather and time of year. This area can flood with rising river levels. It can also get a little buggy at times too, but for the most part, we've enjoyed it without too much trouble. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple dinner plan but wants something a little different and atmospheric. I give it 4 stars overall for its potential to be a bit more than what it is now, even though it's still good as is. Because we can't put in food items below I would recommend their burger when on special, the shrimp po boy as well. And there was a salad dish that was pretty large and looked...
Read moreI saw the great reviews online and figured I’d try it with my college-age son. We followed my GPS but it sent me a tad past the restaurant, which gets a bit “curious.” (When you cross the tracks, and get down to the T by the water, look for the big parking lot and a place up in the air on a “stilts-like” base. There’s an “M” on their exterior and a sign that says something like Open Year Round. Don’t get fooled by the handful of boats in the parking lot—I forgot the place is a marina too.) Great ambience, good music, plenty of drinks, friendly workers (Logan!), and good food. Regarding food, I wasn’t sure I wanted to order seafood at a bar, but Logan recommended the grilled shrimp on skewers. I chose the lemon-pepper seasoning, and they were tasty! (I was hungry going in, and kept eating til every shrimp was gone! They were light yet satisfying.) My son had a shrimp burrito, which was light for a burrito (I don’t think it had beans due to the shrimp.), but really filled him up, even though he too was really hungry beforehand. Of course, as a 19-yo male, he still needed dessert, so he ordered the warm cookie w chocolate on top, and some vanilla ice cream on the side. He could only get through ~1/4 of it because it was big and filling too. The price wasn’t cheap but we left very happy and with leftovers. One can eat & drink both inside and out on a pleasant day. The water is several feet away so you get to look at houseboats, motorboats, and kayakers....
Read moreI was looking for a laid back spot to have my wedding reception and was sold on the top deck of the Millennium. This was the first time my husband and I have ever visited this bar. We were greeted with joyful smiles from an excellent staff who was eager to grant every wish of our party. Our server was upbeat, attentive, offering suggestions. The barrister was skilled and the owner and her friends treated us like old friends. They had truly exceeded my expectations, they even played songs for our children upon their requests :p. With how personal the staff was, we would be regulars if we didn't live 2 hrs away.. The crab balls were amazing and our entrées were fantastic. We had ordered about 10 Seafood bag boils which all came out at the same time, hot and cooked perfectly and the Shrimp burrito was delicious. My children are still talking about their pretzel bobbers and I don't think it was just the alcohol talking when everyone in my party said this is literally the best place to eat in Dubuque. Every chance we get, we...
