Worth every second of the drive to get there. My wife and I stopped in and were immediately greeted with the most welcoming environment we've ever been in for a burger place. The second you walk in you are hit with all the smells of perfectly cooked burgers and fries, and the first thing you see is the display of their caramel sticky buns that are to die for. Whoever the man is that was working the front, I can only describe him as someone born to be in this industry. Every person that came up to him to order was met with a big smile and questions about their day and their travels. He was so personable and genuine. With his recommendations we ordered a couple burgers, and got them quicker than we thought possible.
The food here is unlike anywhere else we've ever been. First off, house made ketchup. HOUSE MADE ketchup. And it is the best thing in the world. Even their ranch was house made and was delicious. The burgers are cooked perfectly, and how clean the kitchen is comes though in the flavor of the food. The meat they use is from a very close local farm and it makes the burgers just that much better. I really can't get over the flavors that come from this place, they add things like a lemon ginger marmalade, and pecan bacon crumbles... my mouth is already watering again.
On our way out the man working in the front stopped us to give us a bottle of the ketchup made there that we came to find out that he makes. Our meal was already perfect, and stopping here had already made our night that much better but something as small as giving us that bottle of ketchup made my whole month. You just don't get hospitality like this anymore and it showed that the people who work here not only genuinely care about your experience, but they truly enjoy working there too and that says more than I could ever write in this review. My wife stopped in about a week after we visited and was recognized and remembered. YAKS will forever be who I say is the best burger in the world when I'm asked, and you can't convince...
Read moreI’m not sure if this is a picture of my very first Arnold Alpha Burger, but it was definitely one of the first. I have been going to Yaks every time I have made a trip to Mt. Shasta from Redding for the past 5-6 years. I went there yesterday and the place that I thought couldn’t get any better did. I talked with Mike and Nancy, and learned just how much they care about their fans. Mike gifted me a Yaks beanie years ago, and it kept my head warm and toasty on many cold wet nights. He was happy to know that, and happy to listen to my adventures. Yet again like every time I go there, I got the AA, and I got my girlfriend the make me want to cry garlic burger. The first thing you taste when you bite into a yaks burger is the love. They have a real passion for serving great food with a smile, and you can taste it from the first to the last bite. When you go to Yaks the first time you might think “oh, it’s just a hamburger” or “people just talk this place up”. You’ll end up going back to Yaks feeling like you did waking up Christmas morning as a child, full of excitement and ready for what you know is coming next. Everything from the food, watching the chef’s dancing in the kitchen, talking to whoever you get at the counter, it is an experience in an of itself. Even if the line is to or out the door, it’s hard to look around and find someone without a smile on their face. Words can’t describe how I feel about this place, but yesterday it went from my favorite burger place to my favorite restaurant. I wish nothing but the best for the family and staff that run this place, and I wish that everyone driving up and down I-5 that passes this place gets to experience what a special experience going to Yaks is once...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in we felt very welcomed. The woman who was working the front, forgive me I didn’t get her name, but she welcomed us with a very warm greeting and a huge smile on her face. We hadn’t been to this location and were unaware that the menu is different from the other in downtown Shasta and it was just as incredible. I’m not a big hamburger person, so when we arrived and I looked at the menu, I was thinking my only option was the fries. My husband asked the wonderful woman at the front and she stated “ We have a garden burger that’s made in house.” It’s not listed on the menu so to my surprise it was like Christmas came early. I was able to get any burger and sub with the garden patty. I went with the peanut butter burger and holy guacamole.. it was like 4th of July fireworks with the taste buds. Burgers are massive and filling. So many options. Plus for all you serious garlic lovers like me… ya gotta get the garlic Parmesan fries. So much garlic it made my eyes water. I’m Italian so garlic runs in my blood and these are no joke. Delicious. Husband had the Mr. Sexy.. I think he came up for air twice… lol he was in heaven. Then of course when on a mini vacation I have to test the sweets. The sticky buns were calling my name the moment I walked in. I asked the woman and she stated “ it’s my grandmothers recipe.” So yes I got 3. Two for me and one for my husband lol Heated them up per instruction and the happiness continued. Whether you’re staying near by or passing through on the 5…. STOP AT THIS LOCATION!!! You won’t be...
