Knoth’s BBQ is serious about barbecue, and they have two specialties: pork and brisket. They do a good job on both, and the brisket plate was reasonable - meat, fries and cabbage slaw for $8.95 – but the brisket didn’t have enough fat for my taste. I like a thick fat cap on a brisket, cooked long and slow so the fat can soak into the beef, making it tender. Today’s brisket was so lean, I’m wondering if they cut away the fat cap to make the meat healthier. My husband says if they did, it was the right thing to do because, “fat will make you fat.” Knoth’s has a lot of interesting wall art but is otherwise a no-frills – but spotless - paper plate kind of place. Other pluses: the wait staff is friendly, the kitchen is fast, and you can order meat to go: brisket is $12/lb., pork is $9/lb. ($4.05/lb. for a shoulder). Knoth’s is kinda off the beaten path: six miles from the interstate and 26 miles from Paducah, but is near the LBL campground. It appears to be a favorite of working men, and my husband says he knows why: “The food is good, especially the fries. If I worked in the area, I’d eat there all the time.” His one disappointment: there were no pies or cakes; ice cream only. Heads up: Make sure you have cash; Knoth’s doesn’t take debit cards. (Don’t like bbq? Knoth’s offers hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs and grilled cheese...

I'm a nomadic fisherman who roams the countries waters in search of new species of fish. During my travels I have tasted many types of BBQ. From KC to St. Louis and greater Missouri, Bama, The Carolina's, Georgia Tennessee, Virginia even places that aren't known for BBQ up north. Knoth's, out of all these places keeps me awake at night, fighting the urge to get in the car and drive 16 hours to Kentucky dam. Knoth's 1/2 pound chopped pork plate is the closest thing to spiritual nirvana you will find on this earth. Their Cole slaw is legendary, I would sell my grandmother to Egyptian slave traders for the recipe. Their menu is simple but in that simplicity they are able to attain a perfection unmatched by any other BBQ Joint I have ever eaten at. Eat here BUT be warned, you will develop a life long dependence on their food for which...

My job requires extensive travel and has allowed me the privilege to eat at many different establishments throughout the years and truthfully I’ve never had BBQ brisket that was actually worth bragging to anyone about until I tried the BBQ brisket an Knoths in Lake City. I can honesty tell everyone that reads this post that you will never have a more perfectly cooked, tender beef brisket anywhere and especially with that wonderful mouthwatering hickory smoke flavor that permeates throughout the meat and Ive only experienced that flavor on the surface and never have experienced that throughout the entire cut of meat before and I think I have found the first real mind blowing culinary experience in the one place I would never have expected and that is in Lake City Ky on hwy 62 before you cross the river on the right...

After reading all the raving reviews about how great the food was and the service being awesome... my experience was very lacking. Apparently we came in right at shift change. Our first waitress was welcoming, but after we got our food, we had zero service from her. Our second waitress was trying to get her day going, which I understand. I ordered a pork sandwich and the pork rinds. My husband ordered 2 pork sandwiches at first. (Hear me out on this, I do BBQ and smoked meats myself.) The pork was bland. It had sauce on it, but little to no flavor. My pork rinds had more flavor because they had salt on them. My husband ordered a hotdog as well, after he finished his pork sandwiches. I was not impressed, but it was edible. Just bland. Couldn't try the beef, they were sold out. Prices were decent.

This place is an absolute gem! The staff was so sweet and welcoming! The menu was reasonably priced and simple, which initially told me it should be great. I wasn't wrong. The food is fantastic! I had the beef (brisket) sandwich with pork rinds as a side. My husband had a pork plate and my son had a triple cheeseburger (the patties are smallish). Everything was incredible. This northern girl really appreciated the pork rinds, which are house made. They're way better than anything you might buy at a store. The beef practically melted in my mouth, while the sauces were all very flavorful and delicious. Exceptional! I would go out if my way to come back.

We were in town looking for good BBQ, and Knoths showed up with great reviews. We had a party of 5 and were served promptly and most of us had the beef (brisket) sandwich. It came with an amazing mustard-influenced bbq sauce that was tangy, sweet, and hit all the taste buds well. The meat was tender and not dry at all. They had extra BBQ sauce on the table, one was a spicy bbq sauce. It was sweet for the first .05 seconds and the rest had me sweating like crazy and i kept coming back for more! The spicy bbq sauce was AMAZING. Service was great and prices were spot-on, considering the sandwiches are a bit smaller than a traditional sandwich bun.
