Cancun Mexican Restaurant and Grill — Restaurant in Easley

My partner and I go to Cancun every week, but last night would be the last time for a while. We arrive and the restaurant was moderately busy. Which we were glad because we want them to do well. One of the hostesses asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or wait on a booth and we had no problem waiting for a booth. We waited for about 15 minutes until a table was ready and was being cleaned. Then walks in a couple with their kids. A different hostess walks up and looks at my partner and I, and then looks at these other people and tells them they had a table ready for them. My partner and I were livid. The hostess didn’t ask us if it was okay for them to take the table we had been waiting on. She just did it. The hostess that greeted us at the door asked the other hostess what was going on and her explanation was that “they had kids” so they deserve a table before the other couple who had been waiting. The original hostess and a gentleman apologized for her actions and said it would be a bit longer to get us a table. At this point we were very upset but we waited for another 5 min and noticed they were going to put us at a table right next to those people. When I saw that I told my partner that I just want to leave. We didn’t want to make a scene so we just walked out. The hostess that gave our table away follows us outside and yells “where are you guys going, we will have a table for you soon”. I told her that we just wanted to go but she kept following us. I told her it was at the very least rude that she didn’t ask us if it would be okay to seat them before us. She continued to follow us into the parking lot and I kept telling her “it’s okay please have a good night”. My partner and I simply went to another Mexican restaurant and tried to salvage the rest of our date night. We felt that we were being discriminated. Started off strong but fell short.

This was my 3rd time having lunch here but today I was by myself and not with any coworkers. I probably should have known something was wrong when I walk in at 12 noon and there are LITERALLY ZERO other customers in the restaurant. But I was greeted promptly, seated immediately and my order was taken soon after.

The food came out in a timely manner and was fine but that's where my experience went downhill.

After the food was brought to my table not once was I approached to see if I needed a refill on my beverage, if my food was okay, nothing. I was totally ignored and I was still the ONLY customer in the place until just before I got up to pay when 2 other gentlemen walked in at 12:30pm.

The pricing on my ticket did not match what was in the menu. I asked for a small cheese dip, I was charged $7 for a large (not sure if they brought out a large or not, but maybe that was what I received).

They also charged a fee for processing a debit card, which I know some places do this now but it should be posted or explained prior to running the card.

So with tax and the debit card fee, what I thought would be a quick inexpensive lunch was almost $18 before tip.

Unlikely that I will be going back...

Id give this place a 2.5 out of 5 stars. We had a party of 4 2 adults 2 teens. Went in sat right off. Things started out well got our drinks all fountain drinks pretty quick. Ordered 1 polo fundido. 1 fajita nacho. 1 carnie asada fries. 1 berriea tacos. Things went completely down hill. 3 of our plates came. Waited a good 10 mins for the other. The food was good not amazing but good. But my husband had an empty coke glass for 15 m8ns b4 I finally had to waive someone down for a refill for him. I should have gotten 1 for everyone bc u guessed it they never came back to check on us again had to wait 20 mins after finishing food to finally beg our check only for it to have a charge on it for an item. We did not order or receive. This was our 1st time here do not believe we will be back. It has been Years since I've left a place without leaving a tip but I honestly couldn't justify leaving one when the service was so incredibly bad.
