Polly's Restaurant — Restaurant in East Alton

i ate there yesterday. . LITERALLY A TABLESPOON OF WATER from my poached eggs went onto the floor! Not a big deal. And it would not have been an issue if SHE TOOK PRIDE IN HER JOB BY MAKING SURE THE FOOD SHE SERVED HER GUESTS WASNT DROWING IN WATER. I didn't even notice I had poured the water out BC IT WASNT A BIG DEAL (or so i thought) and i continued to go about my business eating my food until the old lady waitress came to my table and SCREAMED in my face in front of the whole restaurant that i BETTER CLEAN IT UP! I have NEVER been as embarrassed as i was in that moment. i have never been spoken to like that BY AN EMPLOYEE AT A PLACE WHERE I AM SPENDING MY HARD EARNED MONEY! I waited tables for many many years i have had people dump ketchup, salt, pepper, anything they could onto tables, floor, chairs. Im talking completely trash the place while laughing in my face bc there was nothing i could do but keep my cool and continue to be respectful. I have watched people purposely do this in spite. I sucked it up, acted professional by smiling, did MY JOB and cleaned it up! I would NEVER EVER EVER think of treating a customer like that. Never! And then the lady proceeded to continue to yell about it as she walked around the restaurant. this woman is old enough to be my super old aunt, she surely has waited enough tables to know how to properly treat your guests. You do not SCREAM AT THEM in front of everyone and TELL THEM to clean up anything. You get paid to clean up, that is why people go out to eat so that they don't have to worry about anything other than eating. Your job literally is to serve CLEAN AND BE POLITE AND ACCOMMODATING TO YOUR GUESTS! i will make sure that this story gets told on every internet outlet that your restaurant is on. i have NEVER in all my life been so humiliated and embarrassed by an employee of an establishment where I WAS SPENDING MY HARD EARNED MONEY AT! I never like to leave bad reviews but I just moved to town and read the reviews of this place. Had good reviews so decided to take my family. Soon as we walked in my son noticed how old the place was with the seats all ripped up. That did not bother me tho. My son ordered eggs and they were not even cooked right. I got the Wednesday special of lasagna with garlic bread. It was so horrible I only eat a few bites and my stomach was hurting. Never got any garlic bread with it also. On top of that my food came out 15 mins after everyone at my table. You would think for it being that days special it would have been ready. My wife ordered the ribeye and it was horrible also. We will never go back to Polly’s. Our family went there at 7:30 pm, when it was posted on the internet and on the door that they were open until 8:00pm. There were at least tables still full of people and the waitress told us they were closed. When I asked how were they closed when the place has plenty of customers in it?
