I really hate to give a bad review for the entire place as a whole because this is meant just for ONE particular bartender. I'm rating a 3 star, but I would've given her 1 star, if I could. Over the weekend I arrived at the bar with my friend. It was my friend's birthday. Mind you, I am 33 years old and this was at 6:30pm. My driver's license expired 3 weeks prior. It wasn't punched or anything, simply expired. I had brought along government issued, PennDOT paperwork, that had my signature on it and everything -- and on this paperwork it said to keep this with my license and to use it for anytime I would need to show my ID. It stated that my license has been renewed and that I was waiting for the new one to come, and that it was good to use up until 12/28/22 -- we went on 12/16/2022. The bartender Sam (Samantha) could not have made a bigger scene. I was SO mortified. She was yelling so loud about how she can't take my papers, and she can't help me, and she doesn't know what to tell me. Now, I understand she needs to protect herself too, but she wouldn't even take the time to even look at my papers or let me explain what the papers were for. People started staring & looking at me, and even laughing at me, because of the tone she was using with me. I was so so embarrassed. Then I wanted to pay for my friend's shot before we left for her birthday, and Sam then said I couldn't even buy her the drink either, which was with cash. She just overall could've handled the situation a little differently and not made me feel like...

In response to the owners comment: I know the law, I ran a bar for many years with no violations (maybe you can't say the same given the overly strict procedure?). We, however, are both 36. I guess thanks for the compliment. You bold-faced lied about his response. We both said "really?" (because we're obviously of drinking age with white hairs starting to show and surprised when carded), your incredibly rude female bartender then went on a 3-minute tyraid as if we were stupid and offended her, we exchanged a glance of disbelief then quietly left as there was no point to argue. As a business owner, I thought the response would've been more prompt and diplomatic. Basic customer service would dictate this has been handled about as poorly as possible. The negative review came in light of her rude response. You sir or madam, have chosen to double down on that. Still, quite telling of how Cocalico tavern is run and operates. Poor service, poor response. Do better.
Ps - do you argue with every negative review you get? Thats a weird way to do business. No wonder it's...
Read moreTwo of us walked in on Wednesday evening looking for some beer and wings and based on the photos this place looked like a great place for that. Upon arrival the parking lot was full which is usually a good sign. As we got to the door we noticed a sign that said "no minors". That should have been our first red flag. The next set of doors had a sign, written in sharpie that said, please smoke out back. As we entered the restaurant, there was a woman directly to our right smoking inside. The place is small and it was full. There were no empty seats at the bar so obviously this place does not follow any Covid guidelines. No one welcomed us and asked if we wanted a table. There was just a guy at the jukebox, that stared at us. So we turned around and left. Its not that I mind a place wanting to do their own thing, just don't advertise as if you are a friendly tavern where...
