Where do I start. First the service, I ordered a lobster roll and an order of French fry’s for my kid as someone recently told me they were heavenly. I got back to my truck, and unwrapped the food to give my son his heavenly fry’s. Until unfortunately the order was messed up and we received the devils sweet potato fry’s. We buckled up and got ready to leave, tho disappointed I wasn’t going to make a big deal about fry’s. Until my son told me to call just to let them know we got the wrong fry’s. I started to call and my son verbatim said “no it’s fine dad they probably will say no to getting us the right fry’s.” That’s where we are in society where a 7 year old thinks business won’t help you. I digress, I explained what I ordered and immediately got a big apology and was told bring them back and they will make everything right. They didn’t know I’m a lobster roll reviewer or a guy who loves food so much that both of us were going to wolf down the food before we even left the parking lot. In fact the lobster rolls were completely gone by the time we noticed the fry’s were wrong. Apon entry to the fine establishment we were meant by an extremely nice heart felt apology. Where I said it’s no big deal by the way the lobster rolls were amazing (spoiler alert). We then got a personal smile, thank you, and a please come back again by the chief which is something you don’t see anywhere. Next is the atmosphere, it was like walking into a nice restaurant right at an ocean beach. Weird to see in a little po dunk town but extremely refreshing. A diamond in the ruff if you will. Now to the food, the fry’s were like was described… Heavenly! Best fry’s I have ever eaten and got the joy of experiencing to be Frank. Now to the lobster roll. I only review the best and worst lobster rolls in my three google accounts. Any place in my opinion can make a ok-good lobster roll. I’ve had lobster rolls from the cost of Connecticut all the way to Maine. I’ve had more lobster rolls and have reviewed more lobster rolls that I can count in the past 20 years. It’s not easy to find a great-amazing lobster roll in ct. Well today was the day! Now it doesn’t look like a lot of lobster from the photo but when I tell you the ratio of lobster to bread was perfect, I mean it not to much not to little, filled me up and made me satisfied. The lobster itself was fresh fresh, like the chef himself just got on a lobster boat with an old salt dog of a man named Bob. He pulled a trap up loaded with big red Maine lobsters, then from trap to pot perched that lobster and coated it with fresh butter, onto a nice and toasted roll and handed it to me 20 miles even before returning to the dock. That was the type of lobster roll you close your eyes, don’t need teeth to eat, amazing tasting, buttery, fresh, delicious, life changing, and as your eating this dream of a bite with your eyes closed you can feel the waves. You can smell the sea, you can hear seagulls in the distance, oh look over there there’s a boat fishing for stripped bass. Just like that there gone, the dreams over but you will always remember and cherish that dream. This is the 2nd best lobster roll in ct no doubt about it. Only one question does it tie for first? Maybe I have to have more to find the answer to that hard question specially because consistency matters. I will be back! I will eat more! Thanks for an amazing meal… no no no no no…… not a meal…. A...

Lakeside Bar & Grill is an absolute treasure tucked right on the edge of beautiful Lake Pocotopaug. Whether you’re a local or visiting East Hampton for the first time, this spot is a true destination—but with all the warmth and welcoming vibes of a beloved neighborhood favorite.
The view from the outdoor bar is nothing short of stunning. Sitting lakeside with a drink in hand as the sun sets over the water is a perfect experience on its own—but Lakeside goes well beyond just the scenery. Every season, it’s clear how much care and effort the team puts into making the outdoor space shine. The patio and garden area are overflowing with lush herbs, vegetables, and flowering plants—it’s like dining in a curated garden that changes with the seasons. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, but never pretentious.
The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to love what they do. You’re always greeted with a smile, and the management team makes you feel like family—they’re engaged, approachable, and clearly take pride in creating a place where people can relax, enjoy great food, and feel at home.
And speaking of food—it’s fantastic. The drink menu is creative and fun, with plenty of seasonal cocktails and local favorites. The pizza is consistently excellent—crispy, flavorful, and clearly crafted with skill. On our last visit, I had the mortadella sandwich on their house-made pizza dough bread, and it was absolutely perfect: tender meat, rich flavor, and that signature crusty, chewy texture that only great dough can deliver. My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and we both agreed it was one of the best we’ve had—crispy, juicy, and full of flavor.
Lakeside Bar & Grill is the kind of place you find yourself returning to again and again. Whether you’re stopping in after a day on the lake, out for a relaxed dinner, or looking for a great local hangout, it hits all the right notes. It’s both a destination for travelers and a welcoming hub for locals, blending the best of both worlds with charm, hospitality, and consistently great food and drinks, with...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here Sunday evening and too put it as nicely as possible we were less than impressed.. Now understandably it is winter time so they didn’t have the outdoor lakeside view working for them. However the atmosphere of the interior was just weird. In the center of the restaurant was a very dark dining room with a very antique feel not at all what you would expect from a lakeside restaurant. The closed in patio space was nice and much more on brand for what a lakeside restaurant should feel like but every room clashed with the next and didn’t make sense. Now for the food and drink. I Ordered a beer off the tap list which they were out of, ordered a NY strip also not available and my backup order of the Brisket once again they didn’t have.. the table behind us ordered a cider and I heard the waitress tell them they were out of that too.. Eventually we ordered the Calamari to start, I got the shrimp tacos and my wife got a salad with grilled chicken. The calamari was by far the best part but the pickled onions were just weird and tasted like cooked red onions which have no business being anywhere near calamari. The shrimp tacos were a joke clearly pre-breaded frozen tiny shrimp that were chewy and flavorless. The salad was fine but the added grilled chicken was dry and charred making it completely inedible. And for the cherry on top our bill was over $90 with tip. Some highlights the salad was $18 + $6 for the chicken hockey puck, 1 fountain coke and a refill for $6.. Our waitress was great and making due with what she had but the quality of food definitely didn’t deserve the...
