First time goer, was recommended their signature dish of pulled pork bt the food was disgusting having no seasoning or flavor to the meet and the sandwich was dry not enough sauce! The service & atmosphere is nice but nobody pays attention and you have to basically find help yourself without a greeting from an empty hostess stand as soon as you walk in! The deviled eggs were old and can taste rubbery without any salt or pepper for taste! The cornbread had a hair in it and very dry over baked! Can tell it’s predominantly a white based restaurant & wouldn’t recommend it to anyone ever! I ordered numerous items to give them a try and everything was the same no flavor and when watching workers make order it was sad no gloves while one cook used the restroom leaving out without even washing their hands…Dirty and disgusting, not to mention the food was cold which makes no sense if it’s supposedly made to order which I don’t believe either cause the container wasn’t even warm the food came in! The coleslaw cabbage used for slaw was old and discolored & tasted like only vinegar! Very disappointed because I don’t eat fast food or dine in due to OCD & not trusting everyone’s cooking…You can clearly see!! They don’t even wash or clean the meat before cooking it! Typical white household behavior! Also was informed by 1 prior employee & current employee that a majority if not almost all the positive reviews & pictures are falsified & cropped! Very disappointing and will...
Read moreIt should be illegal for these guys to call themselves a BBQ joint, unless it's an acronym for Bad Barbecue Quality. Got the brisket platter, chose mac n cheese and three cheese potatoes as my sides, came with cornbread. Cornbread tasted store-bought, very small portion. Mac and cheese was tasty, only three forkfuls worth though. Cheesy potatoes were just that, no complaints other than the measly scoop size. Now for the brisket. If I go to a place that has BBQ in the name, I'm ordering brisket and expecting thick, juicy, flavorful slices with a nice bark that requires no sauce. Hood's served up some cafeteria-style slop: thinly sliced like lunch meat, very dry, unappetizing color, poor texture, and the only real flavor was some seemingly artificial smoke. After the first bite, I dumped the side of seemingly store-bought bbq sauce on top and stirred it into oblivion. Cleared my plate because I'm an animal and it was such a small portion, but easily the worst bbq I've ever had in my entire life. Ordered some lemon cream cake with berries off a chalkboard menu with no prices to try to leave on a high note, only to be disappointed by a dry and crumbly $8 slice.
I gave service 4 stars only because we sat there for a solid 8 minutes before a waitress greeted us, it was not crowded. She did well...
Read moreWonderful atmosphere and decor. Very modern/farmhouse. Very clean! The bathrooms are incredibly unique. It's a relatively small space. We visited on a Tuesday at 5pm and there were only a few people seated. By the time we left it was packed. I can imagine there being a wait for a table later or on the weekend. They are closed Sun-Mon and hours are 11-8 the rest of the week.
Our server was exceptional. The food was exceptional. We got a sampler with baby ribs, pulled chicken and brisket with baked beans, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw and cornbread. Be sure to order extra cornbread - it's divine! We also had the fried green bean appetizer (also yum)! Their scratch BBQ sauce is delightful. The portions were enough for 2 ladies to share with some leftovers. Those with bigger appetites may want to order meats individually to get larger portions.
The bar serves local brews and ciders. You have to order and pay for your drinks at the bar (no table service) but the friendliness of the bartender made it a pleasure.
There is a cute shop attached that sells their sauces, local food stuffs, sweets, chocolate and other gifts. It feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, but it is a hidden gem and worth the drive! We can't wait...
