Bob's Dairy Dream — Restaurant in East Peoria

I don’t usually leave reviews but felt this was justified. Let me start by saying we have been loyal supporters of Bob’s....love their food and ice cream. Service has always been good until tonight. We stopped only for ice cream and ordered what we always order (our favorite) peanut butter cup twisters. There was a very young girl taking the order, seemed like she was new...which is totally fine! We heard the older girl helping her question the way she wrote the items down and explained to her how she should so there was better clarification.

We received the twisters and they didn’t look right, I asked if they were peanut butter cup and the young girl said yes. We tasted it and they were not...they were peanut butter twisters so basically peanut butter ice cream. I said that isn’t what we ordered and the older girl said well if you don’t want these you will have to buy 3 more! I said no and about that time the owner walked up and asked what the problem was and I said we didn’t get what we ordered and they were supposed to be peanut butter cup...she said well we can add peanut butter cup to the. I said I think they would be too peanut buttery and she said no we do this all the time. They gave them back to us and we hated them, way to peanut buttery and we like peanut butter!

I went back to the window and was very civil and just expressed my frustration that we didn’t get what we ordered and it wasn’t right, the girl asked if I would like to speak to the owner and I said sure.

The owner came to the window and looked totally disgusted that it was me. I again very nicely expressed my opinion to her and she was extremely rude and defensive saying they make them this way all the time...I told her we never have had one like this before and we come often, she said we do it all the time. I told her I even asked if hey were peanut butter cup when they were brought to the window and they told me yes. Her response was that they heard me say peanut butter and that is it....if we wanted peanut butter cup then we should have ordered Reese’s peanut butter cup....REALLY!?!? Splitting those hairs are we?!?!? She very angrily asked “do you want us to remake them for you again ?” I said well it doesn’t seem like you really want to and said thanks anyway...she slammed the window!

What a way for an owner to act? All this over a few cups of ice cream? Crazy!

We will not be going back and are sad because we liked it so much...oh well, can’t justify that kind of behavior from the owner...

I waited 20 minutes for a cheeseburger and some cheeseballs. The girl who took my order had to ask me what I ordered because I had been waiting so long and no one got my food ready. I told her what I had ordered and she closed the window and I waited another 10 minutes, during which time I observed the cook touching things with his bare hands and then touching food with his bare hands. I informed the worker inside that I wanted a refund and the owner came around to the front window and I explained to her that I wanted a refund and she became very irate and and became very rude very quickly. So I became very rude very quickly. She finally refunded my money after going back-and-forth with me about the difference between cheeseballs and cheese curds. I had accidentally called them cheeseballs instead of cheese curds. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a food establishment. The fact that the cook was violating the health code right in front of the owner and I am the one who got yelled at is...

Bob’s dreams must have been moo-velous!

Puns aside, this is another place that I have visited frequently before I created my travel list. It was conveniently located next to my friend’s house, so we would walk over and grab something to snack on while playing Magic or video games.

Like most other Ice Cream Shacks I have visited, this place offers a big menu for being in a little building. Ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, soda, nachos… it offers pretty much something for everyone. I have always been happy with everything I order and visit it at least once a year. It is a seasonal place, so check before you go if it is near Fall/Autumn.

A big bonus if you are 21+ is the liquor store next door. Your kids can get some root beer and you can get some ‘adult’ root beer at The New Twist! Sadly, I don’t have any more photos of Bob’s Dairy Dream, as back then, I didn’t think I would need them for this blog. But I will post more if I...
