Review Date: December 29th, 2015 Palanza’s was Plainza’s. Palanza’s seems to be well-regarded among people I know from the Washington area. With that in mind, I went with a group of friends to try it out one evening. We came. We ate. We left reeking of grease. That just about sums up my experience there. We showed up for dinner and tried a variety of things. We all ordered something different and shared some appetizers. What we all picked off the menu was lost to time. But I do remember chomping down my food and having to tell my mouth that there was indeed some food being consumed since there wasn’t much flavor in my sandwich. I can’t speak for my friends and I know asking them about their experience today would lead to a lot of “I don’t remember”s. So, I am going to chalk it up to maybe having an off day there, either on my behalf or the chefs behalf. Either way, I won’t forget the stench of my coat after we left. As soon as we got in my car to leave (it was just Tim and I in my car), I could instantly smell the reek of grease on my coat. It was fairly strong and made me gag a bit as I was taking Tim home. Once I got home, I instantly put my coat in the hamper for immediate cleaning. It’s amazing that I don’t remember what sandwich I ordered but the heavy grease smell on my coat is a memory that is clear as day. Second chances are something I believe in. I am willing to give Palanza’s another go should the opportunity arise.

I have been going to Palanzas since I was 6 years old. Always have loved going there. Unfortunately tonight was most likely my last night going there. I dined in for an hour and never once was asked about a refill. My chicken should not have been served. It was over cooked, almost paper thin with the cheese barely visible on it from being cooked too long. My fiancĂ© received her chicken Parmesan with a hair strand in between the batter and the chicken which she could literally pick up the chicken with the hair. The manager came and spoke to us and asked what she could do to fix the problem without an apology at first. We had her replace the order with a small pizza. By the time she came back to our table she said that she apologized and proceeded to say she doesn’t know how a blonde hair got in her food because no one in the back had blonde hair. As if to insist my fiancĂ©s hair somehow got stuck in the chicken. And all the while my drink had sat empty on the table. It was unprofessional service and again, it is disheartening that because of this experience I won’t bring myself to come back to a place that is full of nostalgia for me.

It's an absolutely amazing family run restaurant. The best Chicken Alfredo in Central Illinois. My wife had the Chicken Alfredo with a little spice. I had the Chicken & Shrimp Alfredo with a little spice. We split the add-on meatballs. Everything was delicious! We highly recommend getting your Italian fix here.

The host was amazing, however the rest of our experience was the opposite. I'm inclined to write this review since this is my second visit, and both have turned out to be negative experiences. Tonight, we patiently waited for our table, then when we ordered, it took nearly an hour for it to arrive, we ordered, 10 pc. Bone in, 10 pc boneless, and 1 bacon cheeseburger with fries. Their "boneless" wings were chicken tenders, they barely had sauce, and the cheeseburger was literally dripping blood. We asked for them to take the chicken off, because we only touched 3 in total. But they wouldn't grant the request. Our waitress want even mature enough to come over and check on us to discover our grievances, their Host did, which I commend, he really understood what was happening and tried to fix it.. but was over ridden by his supervisor, I'm a new resident in the neighborhood and after 2 negative experiences here, I won't be coming back to this establishment. The total cost of what we ordered was $60, for chicken we didn't even eat.. I'll take our business to Alpha Bravo or the Fillin Station instead, they don't waste their customer's...
