Truly disappointed. I’ve been to two showers that had this amazing cake from Olde World. Vanilla sheet cake, vanilla mousse filling w/fresh fruit, and vanilla buttercream on top. My family threw me a beautiful baby shower this past weekend and knew how much I loved the cake, and splurged to get it for me. The only difference was supposed to be chocolate mousse inside instead of vanilla, everything else the same. They even had the name on the prior order to reference in case of confusion. Yet of course, I cut into the cake and was greeted by a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and barely any fruit filling. My family called in to find out what happened. Turns out the manager admitted it was her fault - the order paperwork had everything filled out as we requested, however she herself had entered it incorrectly. Offered a $50 gift card… I don’t know exactly how much the cake was but I know that doesn’t even cover one half of it - edit to add it was a $180 cake. The chocolate cake wasn’t good and I didn’t even finish a slice… so much for the “safe” cake that I KNEW would be delicious for myself and our guests. Honestly, the worst part is that my family paid good money for this cake only to be told “oh yeah, as a manager I messed that up, here’s 50 bucks credit if you want it”. I myself am a business owner in the food industry and know very well that mistakes happen, it’s only human. However, if there were ever a screw up on our end (especially for a special event) that we became informed of, we would do everything we could to make it right. Full refund, and even a complimentary meal/personal cake/whatever makes sense so that the guest of honor could get a taste of what they were looking forward to. My family feels so bad about it too and I hate this entire situation and writing this review. To top it off, the bottom layer of every slice of cake was falling off, as if it hadn’t been properly filled in the middle to stick together even slightly??? almost every slice looked embarrassing when plated, with the bottom completely falling off and crumbling apart as I tried to mend it back together before serving it! I really hope they’ll learn from this mistake and will value their customers experience, requests, and money a bit more in the future. Had we been offered proper compensation, my review would be much different. I highly suggest calling a few days ahead of time after placing your order to confirm that it was...
Read moreVery disappointing and gross experience on our third attempt. First was okay. The second time there was hair in the food. Now the third time...
My mom (who loves bakeries) was visiting so we tried again. We were told 15 minutes for an outside table. After waiting 30 minutes, we got pastries to tide us over. Found ANOTHER hair baked into it.
We had already waited so long, so we stayed. A group of older people came in after us and helped themselves to one of the tables outside that hadn't even been cleaned yet, even after being told there was a wait. Nobody stopped them, instead endorsed this and helped them before we were sat. I believe a second table was sat as well but we didn't complain.
After an entire hour we were seated with menus. Another 15 minutes pass and we weren't greeted or given water.
I don't see my mom often since moving far, and she came to cheer up after having to put down our pet today. We spent that valuable hour+ watching others be helped, getting a pastry to cheer her up, only to bite into hair, and then be ignored for another 45 minutes.
The lack of organization was insane, and getting hair in our food 2/3 times is notable. Servers would be much less stressed if there were designated lines for seating/to-go. These are management issues that deeply affect the quality of your business, yet could easily be fixed. Your staff shouldn't have to be cutting through crowds of people to do their jobs. It cuts into your efficiency, your customer satisfaction, and in turn, your money. We silently left and went to the diner, who had us seated with waters on the table in...
Read moreWalked in out of curiosity. Met the manager Kara. And what a sweetheart. Warm. Friendly. Kind. Patient always smiling. She loves her job and the family. The way she spoke I thought she was there daughter but she has been there over 15 yrs. Well, I went in for a snack. But got an Italian hoagie, then a a huge spinach salad. Cheesecake, bagels to die for they were fantastic. 4 canoli's awesome. Looking at the menu, I realized there a resturante, all kinds of pizza's, dinner menu. Everything is home made and from scratch. Needless to say I was impressed. Oh, did I mention as soon as I walked through the door, about 3 feet, a gentle who works there or one of the brothers was putting on his appren , smiled and asked can I help you. He started showing me around and pointing out the breads and the displays on the table buy one get one free, large round French bread, Italian, spalets all kinds of pastries. But not as a salesman . Not as a host, not as a waiter. But like family. I felt like I just walked into Nina's home and uncle Joe said hey you hungry. Check out what we just made would you like? Felt at home. Definitely need to go there...
