Nanna franchesca's Pizzeria. — Restaurant in Edinburg

I'm originally from the Chicagoland area (Grew up there 22 years). I have tried every single "Chicago Style" pizza place in the RGV that I can find. Everyone of them fails me in one way or another. This is not to say they don't make tasty food, just that I have a high level of expectation. I'm starting to realize that it has more to do with very specific places I ordered from growing up.

So, How does Nana Franchesca's pizzeria do? EXCELLENT! They have been the best so far. The sausage tastes like a real fennel style sausage Chicago is known for. They can add Italian beef to a pizza as part of their toppings, which I loved!. I only had 2 small pizzas that My daughter and I shared with my son and my wife. They were very good. I prefer a cracker crunch style of thin crust dough, this place comes close, but it's still airy and layered. Their has to be a certain chemistry to the dough that changes that. The sauce was good and not too sweet, which I appreciate. The cheese was flavorful as well, which is very important. I typically like my pizza more on the well done side, and this was quick fresh out of the oven, so I would have liked to see it more done, definitely something I'll ask at the beginning next time not the restaurants fault at all! Overall its a very nice little place with HUGE flavor packed in. I spoke with the manager, and she's legit. She knows what it takes and she's worked really hard to put together a fantastic place to pick up food that is Chicago style!

The only thing I might change is getting a dining room for more business. I took away one star for atmosphere because it really needs a dining room. Unfortunately I live about an hour away so I can't frequent this place, but whenever I'm in the area, I'll stop by and give them my business over any other place in McAllen\Edinburg.
