Review for Rockey Mountain Grill, Edmond
My wife and I went to Rockey Mountain Grill in Edmond for the first time this morning. We arrived at 11:05, thinking they closed at 2 p.m., but found out they actually close at noon.
When we walked in, one of the servers was sweeping the floor. Without stopping, she pointed us toward a table with her thumb. I wasn’t sure where she meant, so I asked for clarification, and she then gestured more clearly. As we sat down, another server behind the counter rolled her eyes and looked at the ceiling, which didn’t make for the warmest first impression.
The server who had been sweeping brought us menus, and when my wife asked about their hours, she confirmed they closed at noon and then took our order. To be fair, neither server was outright rude, but from that point on, it felt like we were being rushed. The staff were busy mopping, sweeping, and cleaning as we ate.
The food came quickly, and it was good. But the overall service felt more focused on closing up than on customer attention. When I went to pay, I even apologized for not realizing their closing time. The server responded that she was just trying to get to a tailgate party before the game. I can certainly understand wanting to get somewhere, but if the business is open from 6 to 12, the customers who come in during those hours should still feel welcomed.
I’m not upset, but first impressions matter. The food was solid, but the service experience left us with...
Read more1st time visit for us, but there will be more. Basically a 2021 version of the old Ma & Pa classic restaurants you would find in much smaller towns, so what a surprise to find it in Edmond.
We stopped in about 11:00 AM for and early lunch and wanted to beat any rush; there was a steady flow of sit down and take out customers, but no hustle and bustle.
Wife had the daily special (open faced burger smothered with chili, side of Fries and pie; I went for my usual "new" restaurant test lunch of BLT & Fries......both were excellent.....you would be surprised how may restaurants can't fix a decent BLT.
Great easy listening 60's music playing in the background and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Believe we had Mom and Dad running the show today and it was perfect.
Parking lot is shared and not enough spaces in front during the week, as a roofing company next door takes up too many parking spots for employees, but even with a short walk from the parking lot, it's well worth it.
Good food, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices and clean.....this...
Read moreI never give a place 5 stars on my first visit, but the Rocky Mountain Grill receives four stars from me. They receive these stars for service, taste of food, and cleanliness. Services was demonstrated in three ways; a wonderful and beautiful waitress that took care of our every need, fast delivery of our food, and a greeting from our owner that was as comfortable as Jimmy Buffet enjoying five o’clock at the beach in Cancun. The food was hot and tasted damn good. The wife had the Burrito breakfast and I had the tamales and eggs. The salsa verde was on point. Cleanliness when you walked in was the first thing you noticed, but the best indicator is the restroom. I always visit the restroom at a new place I’m visiting. If the restroom is filthy, it’s a good bet the kitchen is too. In this case, the restroom was clean enough to conduct surgical procedures in. The bonus is the price. Affordable is the word. I will be returning soon. Rocky Mountain Grill can be found in a small strip mall near East 33rd street and I35 Service Road. I’ll see...
