Rant: I had the worst experience at "The Burger and I" in Brawley 2 nights ago. I took my 4-year-old daughter there for dinner, thinking it’d be a simple, stress-free meal. I ordered a skillet for myself and nuggets and fries from the kids' menu for her. While waiting for our food, my daughter needed to use the restroom urgently—because, well, she’s four. So, I take her, and we’re gone for just a few minutes.
When I come back, our entire table is cleared. Drinks, utensils, everything—gone. I ask the waiter what happened, and she says the other waiter assumed we had left. Okay… bad communication, but fine, mistakes happen. They bring back our drinks, and eventually, the food arrives.
Fast forward—I eat a little more than half my meal, and my daughter finishes her fries but hasn’t even touched her nuggets. Then she suddenly has to go to the restroom again, this time for a longer trip. I try to let the waiter know, but she’s busy with other tables and doesn’t see me. By the time we return, it’s déjà vu—my table is cleared AGAIN. My leftover food, which I planned to take home, was just thrown away.
I calmly ask the waiter where my food is, and she turns to ask the same incompetent coworker, who admits she threw it away. WHY would she assume I left without paying? I was literally just in the restroom with my kid. At that point, I was done. The waiter offered to have the cook remake my plate, but I was already beyond frustrated. I had a long day of work, and after work more activities for my kiddo. I was exhausted and also didn't want to risk having the cooks tamper with my food. So, I just asked for the check and left—no tip, and never coming back.
Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t make a scene or at the very least ask for the manager. I just wanted out of there, they made me feel so unwelcome. I wish I was that person who calls out people when they deserve it. If you have kids and need to step away for a moment, beware—your food might not be there when you come back. I regret paying full price for half the meal we asked for.
Waste of $$ 😤 but never wasting my time at this...
Read moreThis place is on the same property as the Brawley Inn. So since I'm staying here for work I decided to stop by, with friends. It only opened a few weeks ago and they get pretty busy.
Why, it's the new hotspot in town and deservedly so. You walk in and are greeted right away. The restaurant is very well put together. A very cool vibe. The bar is spacious and the seating area is, as well. Been here twice in the last 4 days and the first night we came they did not have any wings. So we all got burgers and I ordered the Padre USA. A 1/3 pound Angus beef and ordered it medium rare w/ lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms, pepper
jack cheese, green chili pepper's and It was delicious, every bite was a party of flavors in my mouth and the bun held throughout the meal which most buns don't do. Service was friendly and awesome. I know this is long winded but the 2nd night we sat at the bar where the service, again, was awesome and yes, they had wings!! It was suggested that I order the Mango Habenero bone in wings.
Absolutely delicious!! Just the right amount of sweetness and heat. I devoured them and when I eat my wings I leave nothing but the bone.
The young ladies behind the bar are all awesome as is the rest of the staff.
They gave a few more suggestions on what to order, which, next time I'm in. I highly suggest this new gem...
Read moreAmazing burgers. Great service. Decent prices. I came into town for business and wanted to try somewhere local. This place had good reviews, so I figured I'd try it. Parking was good when I got there around 1700 on a Sunday. I was seated right away. My server was friendly and helped me figure out something I'd really like. My two constructive criticisms: where I sat was directly under the air conditioning which felt great after being in the heat, but made my food cool off very fast. (If you get cold like me, I was cold in my sweatshirt, so bring your layers.) Might be an easy fix if management can re-angle the vents slightly. Other item was that I wasn't in love with their dessert like I was their burgers. If their burgers are an 11/10 (and their fries are great, too), their lava cakes are like... a 5 or a 6. They aren't bad, but they just aren't "WOW!" I will 100% come back to this restaurant, but next time I'll grab a burger, fries, a milkshake, and sit away from the A/C vents. Then it'll be PERFECT. (FYI- They serve Coca Cola...
