We’ve been coming to Bigfoot Restaurant in Elephant Butte for over two years, and up until recently, it was one of our absolute favorite spots. The food has always been excellent—the lobster rolls are a must, the rosemary fries are addictive, and their cocktails are surprisingly well-crafted for such a laid-back place. The vibe is chill, the patio is pet-friendly (our dog loves it here), and we’ve always appreciated the small-town charm and consistently good service.
But last weekend changed things for us.
Everything started off the way it usually does—friendly staff, great table on the patio, drinks delivered fast. Our usual server wasn’t working that night, so we were greeted by someone named Steve. At first, he seemed personable, cracking jokes and making sure we were comfortable. But somewhere between the appetizer and the main course, things got weird.
Steve started complimenting my wife a little too much—first it was her dress, then her eyes, then how “radiant” her energy was. I brushed it off at first, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. But he kept circling back to our table, lingering a little longer each time, eventually pulling up a chair uninvited and telling my wife she had a “timeless beauty that doesn’t belong in a place like this.” I wish I were joking.
It made both of us incredibly uncomfortable. We wrapped up early, skipped dessert (which we usually love), and left wondering what just happened. It was disappointing, especially after years of great experiences.
We’ll think twice before...
Read moreDisappointed. Food was decent but portion was super small. Waitress was ok. We got to only select from the smaller menu due to our ‘group’ being too big 6 adults/4 kids. The group menu was definitely way too limited regardless. To top it off the actual group next to us which was a party of 8 that reserved a table got to select from the main menu not the pitiful ‘group’ menu.
If you are going to have rules at least enforce them. Won’t be coming here again.
Edit: Didn’t say I was ‘mad’, key word being ‘disappointed’. As stated above, enforce the rules if you have them. Pretty lame that the group next to us (which had 8 people) got to fully order from the main menu. The only exception you made was the orange chicken but that was for one person, everyone else including myself changed our options. As we don’t want to cause you any inconvenience due to your apparent lack of cooks/staff.
Also quick tip, you may want to post something like that next time on your door that groups of 8 won’t be able to order from the main menu. You have no sign that states that anywhere not even on your website.
But hey what do I know of customer service 😂. Stay professional, you’re passive aggressive response speaks volumes of what kind of...
Read moreI am very disappointed in this place. My family and myself went to Elephant Butte Lake and decided to eat here on Friday April 7th. Upon arriving the man at the front told us that there was no tables available and that it would be an hour or more wait. We said we would like to be put on the waitlist, but the guy came back with you guys could go eat at Casa Taco down the street. We got really offended over this being that we are a Hispanic family. Not only was that rude but there was plenty of tables available in the patio area and inside the restaurant itself. I have never felt so bad by a business and I have never known a business to turn down customers and refer them elsewhere. Just because we are Hispanic does not mean we want to eat tacos. There were other restaurants the guy could have referred to. Our family was really looking forward to eating here after seeing the food online and reading the reviews. We really hope that this establishment does not condone racism and that maybe one day when visiting Elephant Butte we could...
