The Special Place — Restaurant in Elizabethville

Update- I went back to try this place again. The service was good, but the food quality has dropped substantially. I ordered the crab soup and it was broth but no crab. The applesauce was not good at all. The rest of the food was eh..ok. I can cook better than this at home. I recommend raising the prices and improve the food quality!!

First review - The service was much better than is typical in the area. The food and the service was very good. The best part of the meal was the homemade bread! My pork chops were tasty but salty, especially when I asked for light salt. The reason that this restaurant is only rated as average is because of the contemporary christian music blaring during dinner. I have no problem with anyone enjoying whatever music that they are into. I respect people who are religious! However, you are not doing your business, or others who are not into that music, any favors by forcing them to listen to that extremely boring and mundane genre of music. Play easy listening or something light, have a good group of service staff amd show a good christian attitude and you will win more people to Christ instead of force feeding them that awful music. I have ordered take-outs several times now to take to my daughters house! Each time, there is something missing! Last time, I ordered for my sides asparagus and Brussels sprouts and never got the asparagus, and when I went to pick it up, not a word was said! Another time, I ordered baked potatoes as a side with butter n sour cream, and when I opened the tray, no butter or sour cream! They list lettuce with hot bacon dressing on their menu, but after much prompting, someone finally said it is no longer available on a Sunday! Why??? And why have it on your menu as listed as such should be marked as not available every day! The girls that work there, most of them are not friendly! I was told by one that I should have said something about my order when it was their job to let me know! Evidently, they don't go by the creed that the customer is always right! You don't want to piss off a returning customer! But they do, and it shows how empty the place is when it used to be packed! I also go there with friends for breakfast, and it takes so long to get waited on and get your food! We had someone aside from us get their food before us when they arrived after us! They need to correct these issues as they are...

They definitely named this restaurant appropriately! It's been a Very Long Time since we've had an experience like this! This was our first time here but most definitely not our last! The service was outstanding! All of the staff was great, our waitress Xaviera, was the absolute best! From the moment we walked in until the moment we left she was attentive to us as well as all the other customers, making sure everything was great (Which it was!) all with a big smile! You want to hear about the taste and portions of our meals!? I got the NY Strip, with a side salad and baked potato and my best friend got the Breaded Haddock, a side salad and sweet potato fries! Oh My... Everything Was So Darn Delicious, The Portions Were So Big And Filling (as we both needed to go boxes.) You really NEED to take a trip to The Special Place and see what all the hype is about... You Won't Be Disappointed! They pride themselves on "Serving Those Who Served" and even had a Very Special Mothers Day Meal Event This Weekend! Out of the 5 stars that are available to rate The Special Place...
