The Flippin Cow Restaurant offers excellent customer service from the moment you come in. Their staff are willing to assist in any way possible. Our server, Mackenzy, was amazing at everything she did. She knew the menu inside and out and was very helpful to find exactly what we were looking for.
When you first walk in, take a look at all of the dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. All the money there is provided by their customers. Each bill gets donated to The Humane Society.
They offer various seating areas. Try enjoying some of the different beers on tap while sitting at their bar. You can always choose dining from the main restaurant, enjoying dinner on their patio overlooking the Simonton Lake waterfront, or living it up in their spacious party room. They definitely offer a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
One unique process they have is the "Flipping of the Cow." A method used to let the servers know you'd like them to come pay you a visit. A process that is known by the locals of Elkhart Indian that go there regularly.
During our visit there, we got to try their three signature sauces. First, starting with their "Flippin" sauce, its served chilled and has a sweet yet sour taste followed by a slight kick. Second is their "Jalapeño Jelly." This was definitely an unexpected sensation that you have to try. Third is their "Zipping" sauce. Tangy with a mild zing.
Stella Burger - This was amazing bite after bite. Taste like you're eating a steak house. Meat on top of meat followed by a kickass barbecue sauce. This award winning burger is smoked 16 hrs before being served and gives your jaw one heck of a workout.
Hangover Burger - This burger may not cure all hangovers but it will definitely cure the hunger of one that follows.
Shakes - The best we've had. The chocolate shake is made with real Hershey syrup and blended to a smooth perfection. It was so good that we ordered a strawberry shake. And let me tell you, it was just as good as the first.
If you're ever looking for a great place to eat some amazing food, this is one restaurant that won't leave you like some of those other...
Read moreCool view of Simonton Lake at this waterfront burger joint. The burgers are a juicy blend, including brisket, and they have a veggie burger (a wee bit spicy), so my vegetarians have a variety of options. (Beware the cheddar bacon dip has bacon in it ;) The cheesy nugs are worth trying, i dont even like red sauce, but i totally ate their marinara and a glass of wine is only 5 bucks! I've been here twice now. Only 2 low points: the metal stools (at the high top tables) are slippery and uncomfortable, and sometimes the first little waterfront room has a funky smell. My first time in, we were seated in this room right next to a window and a loud screeching hurricane fan. My friend asked that it be turned off or we be seated somewhere else, and they turned it off for us. There was definitely an odd oder in that room (probably why the fan was on). The fries were crispy and delicious. I had the Maui Wowie, which was good, flavorful, but a little plain. (It only has teriyaki sauce and pineapple on it)The waitress was a little rushed but efficient (we got there at 8:15). The second time, I was seated in the adjoining room at a hightop(with those stools), but the smell wasn't an issue. We could still see the lake even though we weren't by the window. The fries were kinda limp and soggy. I got The Bonnie, i wasn't a fan of the bacon cheddar dip, which came on the burger(it might have just been a texture thing). My Bf thought it was good. The waitress was friendly and made us feel welcome. (We got there around 4). Expect to pay for your extras: .75 for a side of ranch or bbq Add 2.99 for the veggie burger Soda and lemonade are 2.99, but you get refills The cheapest burger is $9, most mains are $12-15 Appetizers -$7-10 Wine-$5 Overall, it was a good experience, affordable and totally worth...

Yesterday, while driving back to Chicago from Cleveland, we decided to grab lunch somewhere local without making a big detour. We found a spot called Flippin’ Cow, which had nearly 5,000 reviews averaging 4.8 stars — so we figured it had to be good.
When we arrived, it was immediately clear this was a place for locals. As soon as we walked in, we could feel the stares — like people were wondering, "What are they doing here?" It was uncomfortable, but we brushed it off and just wanted to eat.
There were two seating areas — one with A/C and another with just two fans. It was an extremely hot and humid day, and unfortunately we were seated in the hot section. We placed a simple order: two burgers and a half-size mac & cheese for our son. The large table next to us (about 20 people) ordered just before us, so we expected our food shortly after theirs.
But after waiting 30 minutes, with no food and no communication, my wife politely asked our server for an update. She said, "It’s ready — I’ll go get it." Another 15 minutes passed with nothing. I asked again, and she said she’d check on it. Still nothing. Another 5 minutes later, we saw her bringing drinks to another table — not our food.
At that point, in the sweltering heat, with a hungry and uncomfortable family, I told her we no longer wanted the food and were leaving. She looked at me and just said “I’m sorry” — then turned away and walked off.
The entire time we were there, we felt out of place and unwelcome. People kept looking at us like we didn’t belong. We were shown no respect, and our experience was completely ignored.
If you’re not a local — don’t go to this place. You won’t be treated the same. One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had...
