We were not greeted nor did we see any "Please wait to be seated" signs so so we sat at an empty table as there were several to choose from. One of the waitresses came over and I asked if it was ok to sit where we were. She said she would clean another (smaller) table off for us and we could wait at the bar. Fair enough....save the bigger table for a larger family but why move to the bar when it takes a minute to clean the other table? She cleaned the table and then forgot about us. Eventually the other waitress asked if we were waiting for a table outside. I told her no and explained what happened. We finally got seated and ordered some soda....and then forgotten about again. Numerous families came in and had to go through the same process we did....sit at the bar despite available tables because the one waitress in charge would not let the other waitress seat people. There were always available tables. The waitresses talked with each other a lot over the cash register and served other guests around us. I was about to leave money on the table for the drinks and walk out when the lead waitress finally remembered us. Food was ordered 20 minutes later and finally arrived but we were forgotten about again. No check ups on the food, refills, dessert offers, etc. It was terrible service. A competent high school kid could do a better job. I didn't want to leave a tip but I did. The food was good but pricy. The salad was too small. The bus boy was the only one competent outside of the kitchen. Promote him! Never again. I would rather go hungry than pay for...

Great drinks, food and service in the middle of nowhere. Nice back deck to have drinks or eat on if it is nice outside. Otherwise, the inside dining areas are pleasant. Considering their location and length of season, they have a relatively large selection of beers and spirits and make delicious cocktails. They have wine, but I didn't really look at the wine list. The food menu is not large, but adequate, and the food is well prepared and presented. Our service was provided by the spouse of the pastry chef and was professional, attentive and what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant. The restaurant is owned by twin sisters, who are trained chefs. There are usually mouthwatering desserts made by the pastry chef. Baker, NV is very small and quite remote, so don't expect everything to always be in supply. Check the web for hours and make a reservation if you have a large group. We had 11 people, so I made a reservation to warn them in advance, and they worked extra hard to accommodate and serve us. We will certainly return when we are next...

This restuarant is a little hidden gem of a restaurant, that sadly we did not find until our second nights stay. The first night we were looking for a place to eat, we were not impressed with what Baker, NV. had to offer in the way of places to eat. We heard about this place, Sugar, Salt & Malt that has really good coffee, breakfast and lunch items on the menu. My cheese pie biscuit was fabulous and my husbands breakfast burrito was delicious, coffee was really good. BTW, they closes at 3:00, but they open back up at 4:30 - 8:00 for dinner. I had the homemade ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and topped with olive oil, basil, parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinegar and my husband had the meat lovers pizza. We were both impressed. Topped it off with a rootbeer float. Ice cream was house made. A little slice of heaven in the middle...

It is one of like three options in Baker, I have not been to the other two places but would recommend trying those other locations before this spot. With the good reviews and backstory in the menus I was quite excited to see how this quaint little restaurant would be, however they failed to meet expectations. Prices were high for the food that was provided, understandable due to location but was expecting a little more from them due to the positive reviews here. Service was good though!

Literally, an oasis for the coffee enthusiast, with benefits, their breakfast sandwiches and burritos are far better than anything else you'll find along America's loneliest road. The beans are carefully roasted and the baristas are legit despite this locations exceptional remoteness. If you're visiting Great Basin National Park or passing-by on Route 50 then treat yourself at this wee Coffee Cart, you won't regret it.

Looking for some ice cream after ur hike to the bristlecone pine grove on Mt Wheeler. Stopped in to find out they do not serve ice cream. The friendly server said they do have home made ice cream sandwiches. Wife had the chocolate chip with vanilla and I have the Mint chocolate chip on sugar cookies. All made in the house. The Mint cream was made with mint that the chef harvested from their garden.
