I’ve never left a bad review in my life but after my experience with Pizzaroni I absolutely feel like I have to! My family had never ordered from Pizzaroni before but I know it’s a local favorite and my uncle loves their pizza. Since it was his birthday I wanted to pick some up on the way over to his house and surprise him! I ordered the pizza and packed my 3 kids up in my van and left to pick it up. When I got there I realized I had forgotten my wallet at home. I politely asked if I could have my husband give me our credit card number over the phone and pay that way. They said no because there was no way of telling if it was actually our card or if we were trying to use a stolen credit card to pay. I told them I could have my husband bring me my wallet but we don’t live close so it would be about 20 minutes and politely asked that since they can’t take a payment over the phone if they could at least remake the pizzas because (even though I was really excited to try Pizzaroni) I didn’t want to feed my kids and my Uncle cold pizza! The owner of the restaurant got kind of snotty with me and told me no. Frustrated I sat down in the dining room with my 6, 4 and 1 year old and thought about waiting for my husband to bring me my wallet. After a few moments I decided it wasn’t even worth it and told them I was going to take my service elsewhere. The owner followed me and my children outside and threatened to call the police on me. My 6 year old instantly went into meltdown mode and started crying, “I don’t want my mommy to go to jail.” Then my 4 year old became hysterical because he thought the police were going to come and take him to jail! At this point I had no idea what to do so I put all 3 of my babies back in the van and called my husband. He came down to Pizzaroni and went inside to inquire about what happened and why they threatened to call the police on me. They told him they had my license plate number. What that even meant I’m not sure. I decided to call the police myself and thankfully an officer came out and calmed down my children (the last thing I want is for them to be afraid of the police!) The officer then went inside the pizza shop to explain to them that I was in no way obligated to buy their pizza! I’m shocked by the service I received! We will never be back again! You can...
Read moreTraveled to Ohio for a wedding and saw Pizzaroni’s on the way in. So very glad I did, best part of the trip! Super friendly service, excellent pizza made quickly. Some of the best pizza I’ve had.
When we walked in the place had that wonderful 1980s pizzeria aroma coming from the kitchen. We talked to what I can only believe was the owner, Tony. Excellent customer service skills. He was attentive, very friendly, and made recommendations when we were stuck choosing between a couple different pizzas. We made some small talk about the business while deciding. While we were waiting he brought us a sample of the homemade hot fudge! Just the right amount of sweetness, not over the top sugary tasting. Highly recommend it.
The star of the show, besides Tony, is of course the pizza. The sausage and ranch dressing are made in house like the hot fudge. We had the Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Meat Lovers and took it back to the hotel. The crust is crispy, thinner than a regular crust but not cracker thin with sliced into squares. So often I’ve had square cut pizza with a floppy, soft crust and everything just falls off when you pick up a slice. Not here! “It’s in the crunch!”
The Chicken Bacon Ranch was great, almost as if the ranch dressing was made specially to go on that pizza, not just as a side. The ranch base was mild enough to get that chicken and bacon flavor but enough to give the pizza some tang.
If you’re ready for piles of meat toppings then order the Meat Lovers. My goodness, it’s loaded with bacon, little chunks of ham, house made sausage, and old style pepperonis that curl up when cooked. This thing could be renamed to The Carnivore there’s so much meat. Exactly what I’d expect when you name a pizza Meat Lovers....
Read moreThis restaurant was ranked the number one pizza place in Columbus, Ohio in 614 magazine for 2020. I have to say I think they're on to something there. Our pizza, sausage/pepperoni, mushroom, onion was outstanding Columbus-style, crispy thin-crust, edge-to-edge topping pizza. It had loads of mushroom and onions, fresh house-made sausage, and possibly (?) the same pepperoni Massey's uses, the kind which gets curly when baked, which I love. The meatball sub was also delicious, with their signature sauce, a recipe I consider slightly superior to Massey's and Bexley Pizza Plus, my usual two pizza places. The pie was also ready early and the service was gracious. I learned they also do hand-dipped milkshakes and malts.
My criticisms are pretty pedantic, the two being their use of canned mushrooms (I love Pizza Plus' fresh mushrooms) and too much cheese, which is more personal preference than a real criticism. The cracker-thin crust is very crispy. I enjoy it immensely, but many Columbus people may not. Overall, I think Pizzaroni's earns its accolades as one of the best pies in the greater-Columbus area. I highly recommend...
