This is based on my first and only visit recently with my wife and mother-in-law. The atmosphere is nice and quaint very comfortable place. The people seem nice but not very friendly as you would normally expect in restaurant industry. Our waitress was a very young girl.. very sweet, very quiet and introvert. She took our drink order fairly quick. Took some time to actually receive it. Looking over the menu they offer a wonderous variety of things to choose from. After we had decided and waited for a bit she pleasantly took our order. Up until this point our visit was very pleasant. After we received our coffee is when the wait began. We tried several times to flag our waitress down to get refills. Needless to say the entire time we were there which was about 2 hours (if not longer) we only got coffee refills once for which we had to flag her down and ask for it. Our food took a considerable amount of time to get after we placed our order. For some this may not be a big deal for others this may make or break their visit. I figure it's long as you're not very hungry going in it should be a pleasant time to sit and talk with people. I can imagine if you're very hungry this will be an incredible disappointment. My wife really loved their fried chicken which is why this place came highly recommended. I probably should've ordered that. My mother-in-law and I were in a breakfast mood for which our food was ok. All in all it was an ok experience as we had good conversation between our family. The service unfortunately left a lot to be desired. Even trying to get my wife a dessert was a very daunting task. Trying to get a hold of our waitress was a mission. And i honestly thought my wife would've given up on the idea. But apparently she was on a mission to get her dessert and no amount of being ignored was going to deter her. Ultimately, the food was ok and we left disappointed with the overall experience. Not sure if we'd ever go back there again. I'd like to possibly give it a second chance at some point in the future and hope that maybe, just maybe, we caught them on a bad day. We got there when very few people customers were present so we felt lucky as we thought service would be quick and efficient. Unfortunately it was not after we out our order in. And the service only deteriorated as it got busier. Since this was a decent drive for us, we were really hoping to find a new hidden gem, a new hang out spot to treat ourselves to some good food. Unfortunately this wasn't it. For now we will stay local till the next word of mouth...
Read moreThis place is a jewel of a find in this area. I absolutely love home style (Southern) cooking, and after a friend recommended this location to me, I knew that I had to try it. He was not wrong. In fact, even though I was not physically in the area, I knew that I had to make the detour there. It was a wise decision on my part. I was immediately greeted with warmth, and while I often hesitate to dine alone, I was made to feel welcome from the moment I entered. Unlike most establishments which tend to hide solitary diners by the kitchen, and out of sight, not here. Even though the place was jumping, I was given a perfect seat, and did I mention the food! "To die for..." is all I can say. There is such an extensive menu that I had a difficult time narrowing down my choice. The food was piping hot, country fresh and tasted wonderfully. The Family that runs the establishment is exuberant, wholesome, friendly and possess Customer Service Skills I have rarely encountered - anywhere! If only I could "clone" each one of them and present them to other establishments to show them that this is way to run a business! The owners were solicitous of my privacy in dining but did discretely inquire as to my satisfaction and anticipating my needs. This was not simple good business practices but was genuine and heartfelt. In order to satisfy my need to sample something else, I also asked for a “to go” order which allowed me to further experience the joy of my experience at JESSICA’S PLACE. When the owners learned that I was not from the area, they graciously promised to remember me the next time I am local, and to welcome me as a regular. Now, that’s what I call a restaurant to add to my short list of favorites. For anyone anywhere near Delano In Polk County, TN, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND...
