I usually do not post any bad reviews but this place has my mind wavering about my decision to do so, so here I am giving my opinion (please read to the end because this was my bad experience from a waitress). After a long day kayaking Hiawassee a week ago, my fiancé and I decided to eat here since it was around the corner from our campground. Atmosphere was fine and food was fine, but what caused us to have such a terrible experience was our waitress. She was terribly rude. I was on the phone outside and finally sat down with my fiancé who has already ordered me a water and wasn’t sure if I’d want anything else until I came in. The waitress was behind a booth with a register right by the entrance I walked in. We saw each other and exchanged a smile then she proceeded a few minutes later to serve our table. She asked if we were ready, remember, I JUST sat down, this was within 2-3 minute time frame. I told her I am not ready and would like a sweet tea for now. She walks off and says nothing. She comes back a few minutes later asking if we were ready. I will not lie, my fiancé and I were talking about our kayaking trip so we lost track of looking at our menus. We apologized and said that we got lost in conversation and were not. She comments with, “come on, you are killing smalls.” I let that slide, but it did not leave a good taste in my mouth. Eventually she came back and we ordered. She takes our order and walked away to punch it in, everything was fine but her attitude made us feel like she was annoyed or something to that extent. She comes back with our food and almost slams the plates down and left waiting other tables. She comes over later on refilling everyone’s sweet tea. I didn’t need mine filled since I barely drank any, it was almost full. She asked if I needed a refill, I said no I don’t think I do. She responded back with, “well if you don’t get one now I probably won’t be coming later with it being packed.” So I just grabbed my cup and got it filled. Fast forward to us finishing up dinner, she asked if we’d like dessert, I got excited and said, Oh Yes!!! This is where it truly bugged me and if I could just rate her alone without the restaurant being linked to it, it would be negative 5stars. Her response to my (Oh yes!!!) was “please?” With a heavy attitude and demeanor as if you were responding to a child who said something wrong. We are both over 30 years old,...
Read moreAs we drove through the small town of Benton, Tennessee, we stumbled upon a quirky diner that was not what we expected. It was a 1952 service station renovated into a 50’s style diner, complete with a hotrod theme and traditional American diner food. From the outside, it looked very retro with curved corners, red and white awnings, and a windowed “garage door” wall reminiscent of a 50s drive-in. A rusted roadster with an American flag sat near the road, and a baby blue Volkswagen bus was parked outside the garage. Inside, the décor completed the 50s look with orange upholstered dining booths and bar stools, and 1950s Coca-Cola and hotrod décor.
The diner had three rooms. One had more dinette tables, with a gift shop full of vintage items, local crafts, and canned goods, such as jellies and preserves. The third room was closed, but we could see that it was a very cute 50s creamery (ice cream bar). I commented to my husband that the owners must have had a lot of fun renovating and decorating this restaurant. It looked like a labor of love. If you enjoy nostalgia, I recommend visiting this diner.
There were only three people in the diner, including me and my husband. We ordered lemon pepper chicken wings, but it took a while for our food to arrive. However, there were plenty of quirky things to look at while we waited. When our order finally came, we found the wings to be delicious. They were not your ordinary wings but instead had a unique spicy flavor.
"I gave the service a rating of 3 stars because the service was not up to the mark. As we were the only customers, the servers could have been more attentive. However, they ignored us and never gave us an explanation for the delay in serving the food. Perhaps, if it had been busier, the service would have...
Read moreBeyond disappointed with our experience yesterday. We came in at 6:40p with a group of 9. It was crowded, but the owners assured us it was no issue and sat us down. It took 25 minutes to just receive our drinks. We had to ask for someone to come take our order due to our server giving us our drinks then disappearing. It then took an additional 45 minutes to receive our 3 out of 4 of our appetizers. We never received the 4th. Our server had a terrible attitude and not once gave us an update regarding our food. Only after requesting to speak to a manager, did we receive an update regarding our food with a half sincere apology and offer of free ice cream. Three( out of nine) entrees came out finally. By this time, we have been at the establishment for 2 hours. Again, with no additional apology or explanation. Two hamburgers and one BBQ sandwich. The BBQ sandwich was ice cold and inedible. We had three other tables around us leave that arrived AFTER our party and still had not received anything. We were beyond patient, but the lack of management and responsibility was horrid. Finally, 2.5 hours later, two other entrees were served. At this point, four of us never received entrees and we decided to leave. We overheard the owner saying some not so nice things outside, very unprofessional. We also had people from our party pay that received their food. Again, no thank you, no apology, nothing. Will not be back. Do not recommend. We are ALL mothers from a small town that have patience for days. So, arguing with a guest and stating we do not have the patience for a small town, fresh food establishment, you would be incorrect, but appreciate you trying to spin the story...
