This was our first time at Tony's. We're from Michigan, and our daughter really wanted us to try this place. I'm sorry to report we were really let down. We placed an order for pickup. When we arrived, the place was packed so our expectations were elevated. However, when we got our order home, we were very disappointed. We ordered two different pizzas and for the money we paid, we couldn't believe the skimpy amount of toppings on both of them. However, the crust was hand-tossed and very good. My daughter ordered a chicken salad sub and asked that NOTHING else be on it but the chicken salad itself. When we got the sub home, there was cheese tomato and lettuce on it, which was not how it was ordered. After those items were removed from the sub, there was probably only a 1/4 cup of chicken salad on the sub-size bun . We also ordered the garlic chicken wings. I love garlic! But there was so much diced garlic on the wings, no one would eat them...even after we shook off the excessive garlic. The Cesare Salad and Chicken Alfredo were ok. Our bill was over $75. Maybe this was an off night. But even our daughter and granddaughters, who were big Tony's fans, said the food wasn't like it usually was. We'll be staying here for several months, and it's unlikely we'll...
Read moreSo my Familia always taught me to buy different things on a menu at a time when ordering from a new restaurant to get the feel of what the strong areas are. I've visited this place twice. First visit I ordered Medium Cheese Pizza, Small Cheese Steak, Mozzarella Sticks and Fried Pickles. Breakdown is as follows: Pizza looked like that school Pizza we got on a Friday with raw crust and barely no sauce or cheese, Cheese steak was supposed to have sauce which was forgotten and even addressed so i was given a small cup of some cold stuff and the bread was just an average roll. Now the funny part! Cheese sticks and Fried Pickles weren't cooked threw. Vowed I wouldn't go back. Today I forgot lunch so I thought WTH I'll get an antipasto salad w/garlic knots and some sort of sweets. Wrong move!!! Lettuce was turning brown and can tell it must be shredded prior and put in bucket of water and pulled as needed. This salad should have Mozzarella, Cap and Salami with banana peppers and olives along with house oil and vinegar. 3 olives 2 banana peppers and ham wrapped in cheese on 2 heads of shredded lettuce later I threw it out.
I will never ever give this place 1 red cent. I suggest you...

Happy to say Tony's still the best pizza and the staff including kitchen, pizza and front staff. We continue to takeout at least once a week. You will agree.
August 2022 - Still the best pizza in Lake County. Not sure how they make such a great THIN pizza, but we love it. They are very busy on weekends, so be patient.
October 2021 - If you are looking for the best pizza near Mount Dora, Tony's Pizza & Subs is our choice.
Of course a traditional neighborhood Italian restaurant, but with the best pizza crust and sauce around.
We have never had success with our special order at other places. Other than large, sausage and pepperoni, we ask for 3 special requests.
THIN crust - nobody (even my old Long Island pizza joint) does thin crust like this. Not only paper-thin but delicious ONLY 8 oz of cheese. Most places are confused about such a request. Not at Tony's DO NOT CUT - one night a week we order take-out pizza. Before going, I heat up our oven, with a pizza stone, to 425 degrees. When I get home, the uncut pie goes in the oven for 5 minutes. Perfect and HOT.
There is ample inside seating with pleasant staff. Currently (Septbember 2021) they are closed Sunday...
