First let me say that at first glance Longorias BBQ isn't the prettiest spot in town. What they lack in aesthetics they more than make up for with their beans and brisket sausage...you read that right ...brisket sausage. By far it's the best I've ever had. The irony here is that I didn't like their brisket this trip... it was a little on the dry side. Maybe I'll give it another go next time through. HOWEVER....what really made my two meat plate hop was the beans!! I don't know who they have making those frijoles in the Longoria kitchen but they are GOOD. I'm talking like your abuelita putting a yummy bowl of beans in front of you when you're 7 good... that's really really really good for my gringo friends. I'd go back just to eat a bowl or two!
The sausage is great...really good.
The bbq sauce...not so good and the vinegar concoction doesn't blend well with the smokey meaty flavor of the meats. I'd prefer something a little sweeter...bit that's just the diabetes in me talking. It may work for you so try it.
The pecan pie...oh sweet lort eat it all. The sweet tea...so good.
Overall this was well worth the drive. I left full and with 3 dozen tamales for later. (What...I'm Hispanic. ..we always leave with a plate for later. :))
Give Longorias BBQ a go next time you find yourself in the Everman Tx area.
Tell them I sent ya! They might look at you a little weird because no one knows who I am really...but we can pretend that their great customer service is a result of my sending y'all...
Read moreI'm visiting Fort Worth for a couple days and heard the barbecue joints in the area are exceptional. I read some great reviews and decided to try this place. The friendly cashier recommended I try the sausage and sliced brisket plate with potato salad and beans. After waiting a while, I had to investigate the status of my order. I was assured my food would be right out. (Which really meant, "Oops, we forgot about you.") When my food finally arrived it was definitely not exceptional. The sausage was overcooked, dry, crumbly and lacked seasoning. The brisket was dry and flavorless, requiring a healthy dose of mediocre barbecue sauce that was provided. The potato salad and beans tasted like they were store bought and straight from the container without any doctoring or help. All that, with some pickle and onion slices, and two pieces of white bread in small enough portions for want of leftovers at $12.95. They clearly boast that they rank in the top 50 barbecue joints according to some Fort Worth publication. I'm curious to see their competition. I'll not be returning if this is the standard. Of course we all have bad days. Perhaps I visited on...
Read moreThis is a small hole in the wall spot that has some good food. Potato salad is premade but still good several places use same distributor. Pinto beans were nice and tender without distracting flavors. Ribs were fall off the bone and not fatty. Sausage is unique, they make it in house with brisket so it's lean and not greasy I really liked it. Brisket was very tender, was pulling it apart with just my fork, unfortunately it did not have any smoke flavor to it but it was still very flavorful. Sauce is lacking a little, it has a good flavor but it's thin and doesn't really go with the other flavors. Great price for what I received, I will...
