The food was good but not great. I travel for a living and try and hit soulfood or black own restaurants in every city. The guy taking orders was informative and definitely a leader. I ordered two plates and will break it down. Let me first say, the portions are nice sized. The food was good but needs more seasoning. I also, noticed that I saw no bell pepper nor onions in NONE of the food. I understand some people skip the onion, but they could have used bellpeppers. The meatloaf was bland and sauce tasted like Ragu straight out of the jar. It's nothing wrong w/that, but at least season the sauce and make it your own. The yams were perfect. The greens were cooked perfect and nice and tender, but again, no taste or seasoning. The meat in the greens looked and tasted old. The beef tips just seemed to be boiled with no nell pepper and onion and again...no seasoning to take away that "beefy" after taste. The beef was over nicely cooked (not gummy) rice with watery gravy. It should have been alot better. The Mac and cheese wasn't over cooked, but again, no flavor. Now, I may be wrong, but the cheese seemed like a mixture of canned cheese mixed with real cheese. It needs more flavorful cheese. The hot water cornbread tasted like nothing. Just hard, unflavored little hard corn meal patties. The peach cobbler was the best out of everything. Huge container full. Cooked well and right ingredients. The atmosphere of this place gives off church or funeral repast feeling. I understand why most people were ordering to go. The guy at the register had very lil personality. Even tried making small talk to put a smile on his face, yet he was just DRY and didn't seem like a people person. Looks like he just wants you to pay and hurry up and go. If I'm really hungry and just really need a soulfood fixing, yes I'd go back, but take my...
Read moreI've visited this location several times, and in the last three, I've received horrible customer service. I go back because the food is a great value for the cost, but the lack of customer service is the reason I will not be returning. Anytime you provide feedback or explain that something is incorrect, they become argumentative. The last time, I watched them make my food and noticed the lady didn't put my sides on the plate. I walked up to the glass and told her only for her to get an attitude while telling me, "I made the plate as it's listed on the box ma'am." You pay before they hand you your food. I paid for it and opened the box only to confirm what I already knew; there were no sides in the to go container. I told the manager, and he started arguing with me. He was very rude and should've taken the time to listen before "telling" me I was wrong. I stood my ground and insisted that he look. He looked in the container and saw I was correct. He then gave me a partial apology and fixed it. I was so upset, not because a mistake was made but at the lack of respect given. Compassion and kindness cost nothing and are both essential when providing quality customer service. Not to mention, they forgot my cake. That was partially on me because I should've checked the entire bag after noticing the initial mistake. With today's incident, my mother called to tell them the order was incorrect, and the manager was extremely rude to her. My husband and I listened and was disgusted. I don't expect anyone to be perfect and free is mistakes but if something is done wrong, it should be corrected. Especially if I'm paying good money for it. If he's the face of the company, it's leaving a horrible lasting impression. I know the food will speak for itself, but I can promise that if the bad service continues, the business will...
Read moreNothing is worse than driving out of your way to pick up dinner. Placing your order, paying with your money, time and aggravation. I ordered 3 dinners. 1 veggie tray which includes 4 veggies. I got 3 and one of them wasn't even what I ordered. The turkey wing rice & gravy was supposed to have greens yams, and mac & cheese. I didn't even get rice or greens Seriously? There's a woman calling out what is supposed to be in the box. Too bad she didn't open it and look. Once again pockets almost $40 lighter and I still don't have dinner. You can't even be eat. The other family is disappointed with the partially correct. Come on Madeas you must do better customer service is an absolute must. My dining experience is ruined. Family disappointed with the quality of food and missing items. I have to go to another resturant to buy more sides? One guy on the line was pleasant. Only one. The meat guy. Ironically, the meat was one of the few correct items. Every single pack of corn bread was soaking wet? Whats the point of wrapping it if you wrapbitbin paper and sit it in the juice?Whats with just throwing food in the tray? What happened to common sense? The guy on the register asked me 3 times what did I say? Seriously? I was almost in his ear . Finally just said forget it. I clearly didn't need that banana pudding I was going to add to my order. What happened to customer service ? The cashier and woman were more at the end of the line were more concerned with counting how many bags so no one got out with anything free and were NOT customer friendly at all. Instead of taking care of the customers and making sure the orders are correct. Madeas has FALLEN WAY OFF! The food and service used to be so good. The food is not at all what it once was. The service was worse and made the whole experience very...
