My family and I decided to try the Blooming Grove Inn based on the great reviews I had read on this site. I must say we were extremely disappointed right from the start. After waiting more than five minutes before someone appeared at the hostess stand we were seated. The waitress arrived and took our drink order. I ordered an ice tea and approximately thirty minutes later it arrived. If these were the only issues I would never have been compelled to post a review. However my wife and I ordered a chopped antipasta salad. The salad arrived thirty minutes later and was missing most of the ingredients listed on the menu...prosciutto, artichoke hearts, red peppers, and provolone...it had blue cheese crumbles. The waitress took the salads back and we waited another ten minutes only to have the runner bring what looked like the same salad. To make matters worse, when we told the runner it was wrong again...as it had blue cheese crumbles..she adamantly said they use feta and provolone crumbles. Feta should not have been on the salad and I have never seen provolone crumbles that tastes like blue cheese. The waitress apologized and was embarrassed by the error as the runner rolled her eyes as she walked away. I will say the main courses of scallops, salmon, and culotte steak were tasty...but they arrived about 75 minutes after we had ordered....long after the salads were removed. Desserts were okay...by far not the best banana cream pie as mentioned in another review. Fyi...after the second salad mix up I would have expected a manager to come over...but that never happened.
Needless to say, very...
Read moreWent here for date night after finding this place on groupon. I had the brown sugar short ribs with sweet potato mash and white asparagus. My significant other had the rack of lamb with shallot risotto and micro carrots. Both our meals were cooked perfectly and incredibly delicious. Was surprised with the generous portions of good quality food. The cocktails here are pricey. My white Cosmo cost $9.50 and a Manhattan was over $10. Angry orchard beer was $4.95.
They give plenty of bread on the table while waiting for entrees to come in. In fact, my server was kind enough to bring us a fresh loaf of sliced bread twice! Good service. Live music was very enjoyable too. He sang a lot of songs on his guitar that I felt compelled to sing along to such as Jason Mraz's I'm Yours.
We went on a Friday night at 6 pm and it quickly became crowded. Noise level definitely went up a bit. Outdoor area was beautiful at night with holiday lights all over. Little fireplace inside as well made this place feel very cozy.
Only downside was that they charged us 20% gratuity for using groupon. Something that wasn't mentioned on the groupon. The extra charge came as a surprise since I wanted to tip my server for her good service. Still a great experience. The food is...
Read moreI heard amazing reviews around town about this place, so we went with an out of town guest. Inside was nice and clean, but the host seemed less than pleased to be doing his job. It was extremely loud inside and was heard to hear. The waitress was nice and promptly brought out drinks, bread, and coconut shrimp. The shrimp was fantastic. Following out app and empty glasses, we were not seen for about an hour. In that time, we attempted to grab drinks at the bar but were again ignored. We paid our bill and tipped but decided on going to another restaurant in town. I’m giving 2 stars because the owner did reach out and apologize and the food we did have was delicious. I understand being understaffed, having been in the service industry before. Being short a cook is not excusable for not seeing our waitress. It’s a shame because we were all very excited to go. I should actually give a one star review because the owner lashed out on a review by a person in my party. He basically said that because they have so many good reviews, people should disregard the low star reviews - which I find very rude and...
