Machipongo Trading Company — Restaurant in Exmore

I finally got a chance to try out this coffee shop today. We stopped for some snacks and coffee. I was a bit disappointed. The vanilla latte tasted burnt and I couldn't taste the vanilla. I added a scone and I ended up throwing it out due to being stale and incredibly dry. It tasted old. The service was so-so. Not very friendly for being a mom/pop shop. If you are looking for candies from the by-gone era, this is the place to shop at! I did notice that there were some locals sitting outside enjoying their coffees and talking. The outside porch provides a nice place to do that, though there were no public bathrooms that I saw. Overall, it's worth the stop I think. This place makes amazing sandwiches and smoothies and has a great gift shop. I stopped by today (I usually have to work up here from Va Bch about once a month and always try to stop on my way home). Today I stopped and due to the Covid, they are understandably closed but serving takeout. I was craving a smoothie but they’re not listed on the menu on the website or out front and I didn’t have a lot of time to spend this visit so I unfortunately had to leave early empty handed; sigh, there’s always next time. But if you guys could post your smoothie and coffee options to your menu, that’d be awesome for folks like myself that aren’t totally familiar with the menu and from out of town. I dropped into Machipongo Trading Company for coffee while traveling along the Eastern Shore this past weekend. It may look like just another roadside shop from the outside, but the coffee here is some of the best I have had ANYWHERE. I later found that they roast their own coffee beans, and it certainly shows in the flavor of their coffee. You won't find a Starbucks on the Eastern Shore, and as long as MTC is around, you won't want to! In addition to coffee, they also have made to order wraps and sandwiches that are also pretty good.
