This is Joey's "woman," I was turned away from using the restroom for health reasons. There was nowhere else in town open. We had decided to get pizza last minute, and I was the one closest to what was becoming one of our favorite local pizza places, Stone’s Throw. I had to drive out of my way, from Underhill to Fairfax, to provide business to Stone’s Throw. It was late and I was on my way home from over 12 hours of work in the Burlington area. I don't like to ask ever to use public bathrooms because I understand the sanitization needs currently.
So, I asked after paying for and picking up the pizza, cautiously because I was shy to even ask. The lady who served me looked to her coworker for an answer... a sign to me that the answer is not always definite. Yet, I was denied the chance to be relieved of the physical pain I had to experience in order to have their pizza that night. I tried to act like it didn't bother me, saying "it's OK, I'm just a little ways away" - about 10 min, asking if there was anywhere else open that may have a bathroom - concluding there was not, and still trying to leave a tip before I left even after being denied, but they were unable to produce the receipt I would sign and leave a tip on. My order was over $25, so I should have had to sign when using my card.
When I got home, I had to race to the bathroom and my fiance was concerned. He was rash in his manner of calling right away while he was upset, but we agree that your decision could have been considered in a different way. Many places allow use of their bathrooms, even if it is restrictive. I was perfectly capable of cleaning up behind myself to keep your restroom sanitary, but I felt that wasn't considered as an option.
We do not want to continue to purchase your pizza. I am currently not made to feel better about the service I received seeing your response to my fiance and friend giving their honest opinion of their experiences. I wasn't going to get involved. After seeing your response, I felt inspired to share my side and make it clear what we experienced. Anyone else can make their own decision. I hope your business continues to serve in the powerful way that only local businesses can. We appreciate that, we just didn't appreciate our particular...
Read moreI've ordered from here twice before and both times were bad experiences. I must say, the pizza itself is decent, but everything else in the experience was awful. The first time I ordered, only 1/2 pizzas were made. The second time I ordered from them, they just completely forgot about my order; like I had never called, and ended up waiting for them to make my food. Both times I ordered were about 6 months apart from each other. Haven't gone back since the start of COVID, and I have no plans of going back.
Edit 04_09_2021 In response to the comment the owners left. My experience and comment have nothing to do with anyone else other than me and how I have been treated by you and your staff.
You were so offended by my poor review that you went out and looked up who I was and who I am friends with? How embarrassing for a business to behave like that.
Yup. I know Joey. He told me about his poor experience at your establishment, and I in the past have had bad experiences, noted above. Those had nothing to do with him, but I figured that I would also write about the two times I've been to Stone's throw to order food, instead of what I normally do, which is not review anything and just never spend money at the business again. Now I am glad I did.
I hope anyone reading this sees how unapologetic and unprofessional these people are. A simple "sorry you didn't have a good experience with us" would have been a lot...
Read moreI recently had my third visit to Stone's Throw Pizza in Fairfax, and it was another fantastic experience. This time, I tried the 16" Blues in the Night pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The white sauce base, combined with the herbed ricotta, created a rich and creamy foundation, while the blueberries and fresh basil added a unique and refreshing twist. The honey drizzle brought everything together perfectly, balancing out the flavors with just the right amount of sweetness.
The Caesar Salad was fresh and crisp, with the romaine lettuce providing a nice crunch. The asiago cheese added a sharp, tangy flavor that complemented the house-made croutons and Caesar dressing. I appreciated that the dressing was served on the side, allowing me to control the amount and keep the salad from becoming soggy. Paired with a refreshing ginger ale, it made for a satisfying meal.
The service was prompt and friendly, with the staff attentive to every detail. The ambiance at Stone's Throw Pizza is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The rustic décor and cozy atmosphere create a perfect setting for a casual dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through Fairfax, this place is definitely...
