This was a really terrible and weird experience. My husband and I were traveling on our way home to Lincoln, NE from Colorado to try out breweries outside of the city, and we came to check out Fairfield Opera House Brewery and Grill. I sat at the bar while my husband was in the bathroom and smiled at the bartender. She completely ignored me, and I sat there for a long while before the other server asked if I'd been helped. I said I hadn't yet, but would love to see a menu. She looked at me like I was crazy and didn't respond. I asked if it was okay to eat at the bar since I saw someone else was doing so. She said it was and still looked at me confused like I was doing something wrong. She asked if I was alone like I couldn't drink/eat by myself, and I said my husband was in the bathroom but we wanted to order food and beer. She brought me a menu almost reluctantly and my husband came back. We sat for a good while and were about to walk out the door but she finally asked if we wanted anything as we were walking away. By then, we'd decided we were going to leave but when cornered, were willing to try their beer. I asked if they do taster flights, and she said they do but then was confused and thought I wanted four full-sized pours. When I asked if I could run my card instead of start a tab, she was really confused again and said it didn't cost anything and acted like I was a huge inconvenience. We still wanted to order something and asked if we could have a pint of their IPA, and she didn't know what a pint was so I clarified that I wanted a glass of that beer. It was bizarre, and both servers had really bad attitudes. We thought this would be a fun, unique place that we would have liked to recommend to our beer-loving friends in Lincoln and Omaha had we had a good experience, as the beer was actually not bad, but the service was so terrible that we will never go back and will tell others to do the same.

This is my first visit. Only one negative. When I entered there was no sign indicating whether to seat myself or be seated. I stood for an awkward amount of time before I was greeted and told I could seat myself. I was seen entering. After that, service was great. The place is clean and nicely decorated. The menu isn't large but has a nice selection, though very limited for vegetarians. My burger was unique and very tasty. Service, after I was seated was very good. I'll be back.

The prime rib was tasty and tender and the beer was very good. Our servers were friendly and helped with the menu. Fun place in such a small town.

Very Disappointing The food has always been fantastic and as far as I know still is? When my daughter made a reservation for her Father's Retirement Party, she wasn't sure about the number of people so estimated 15 -20. The person she talked to said it would be okay for people to order off of the menu instead of offering everyone a buffet style meal. When the party took place 40 people came to wish her Father a great retirement. Some came from as far away as Kearney and St. Louis. When the crowd exceeded the 15 number we were informed that they weren't staffed to handle our group and refused to take food orders until their "paying customers" were taken care of. Pretty certain that everybody in our group would have been "paying customers"! I totally get that 40 is not what they planned for, but a reasonable solution like taking care of the out of town guest could have been worked out? The owner wouldn't work with us and some of the guest left without food. Their loss as I am sure they will not be recommending the Opera House to their friends either. We hadn't been there in several months and pretty sure we we won't be back again in...

Impeccable 1st time dining experience here! Can't wait to come back. The prime rib was outstanding as was the rest of the meal. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the price was right and the food was delicious. What more could a person ask for? The scenery was pretty cool to look at while you chewed too. (By scenery, I mean the awesome murals painted on the walls of what life was like in Fairfield in the late 1800s.) I think we discovered one of Nebraska's well kept secrets when it comes to family dining. We will most definitely make the drive from Lincoln again! Thank you for a...
