While normally we love Mike's Restaurant this last experience that we had on 4/23/22 was absolutely disappointing. For people who normally dine there at least once a week. I ordered the Marinated Sirloin Tips- they were absolutely horrible. They were not cooked properly, were hard and not actual sirloin tips-- they were like little round pieces of meat that tasted if they were a frozen dinner. They were not really marinated in the sauce and were drizzled with it on top. This was a new dish that I tried because everything there is normally fantastic. Sadly to say, when bringing this up to the server nothing was really done. She brought them back to the kitchen and the owner said there was nothing wrong with them. The waitress asked if I wanted to take them home (I had only taken one bite) and if I wanted to order something else. I ordered a cheese pizza. The other person in the party ordered the Child's Cut Prime Rib. Well, let's just say we didn't get a piece of prime rib but, another hunk of steak that was something else. We did not bring this up to the server because it was at least edible and the reaction from the restaurant based on my meal was not a pleasant one. The restaurant did not seem too concerned about a unhappy customer or the fact that they would be losing one for some time. Sad to say we will not be dining at Mike's for awhile, especially since we really do like them but the customer service and service that was received this last time really did not sit well with us. For someone who works in a restaurant, I understand the struggles that are going on and would not have made note of this, if it wasn't that bad. But it was bad, the server had very little compassion and so...
Read moreMy husband and I have eaten at Mike’s several times within the past year and have always enjoyed a wonderful meal and service. Alaskan King Crab legs are one of my favorite dishes, but they are not offered frequently in our New England restaurants. Mike’s offers the crab legs as an appetizer or as a 1-lb or 2-lb dinner. They are absolutely delicious and some of the best I’ve ever had. Compared to Legal Seafood, of which the dish consists of three legs at an exorbitant cost and that are more often than not completely dried-out, Mike’s Alaskan King Crab legs are reasonably priced, abundant, cooked to perfection, and juicy and sweet. They also provide all the important utensils for eating crab (it’s never a pretty sight watching someone eat crab legs, but who cares!); in the absence of a wooden hammer like they have in the crab shacks down in Maryland, the scissors is the most helpful utensil, BTW! We’ve enjoyed their other dishes including the French meat pie (a must try if longing for comfort food), as well as their amazing Italian dishes. It’s not often that we have room for dessert, but definitely take a doggie plate home to save room for a delectable dessert experience (the bread pudding and brownie sundae are some of our favorites!). Highest recommendations for Mike’s, they...
Read moreDo yourself a favor & avoid this restaurant. We had a bad experience years ago but decided to give it another try last night-awful. I’ll start by saying the bread and dipping oil were good. The cup of clam chowder was also decent. After that, it’s a total failure as far as the food goes. All food that should have been hot was cold. Baked scallops were covered with plain, dry breadcrumbs poured on top-totally bland. Prime rib was cold & chewy. Baked potatoes were cold yet wrapped in tin foil like they were going to be piping hot & the butternut squash has to dehydrated butternut squash flakes that they add water to-like Gerber baby food but worse. The waitress told us they do not have a fryolater when we asked about an order of fries. My guess is that it’s a kitchen of microwaves back there. It’s bad. Our waitress was nice and her service was good. I had first asked her about the Chicken Carbonara and she made a face and said it’s ok but not really a Carbonara. Like I said, we should have left. A complete waste of time & money. We would have been happier ordering a pizza somewhere & staying home. There are much better places to give your business to...
