Koke's — Restaurant in Fairmont City

I rented out the party room for a Saturday, I asked if i was able to come decorate the night before & was told that would be fine. Come Friday & they are closed!! No one reached out to let me know. Saturday when i showed up there was not enough chairs, a bunch of equipment in the party room from the bar/restaurant i had to jam into a closet. I also had to carry chairs from the dining room into the party room. I was told there was a $100 deposit at time of reservation & would be returned at the end of the event. I also had to spend at least $200 on food/soda/ or beer. By the end of the night i went and asked for the deposit & was told it was not to be returned cause that is the price of the room. For future parties i will rather rent the small VFW hall in Collinsville for $300 with everything already there and not having to worry about bringing extra chairs & tables & also not having to worry about where to hide restaurant equipment. Been goin to Koke's at least 20 years. Margaritas, Koke's Dip & salsa still excellant. Been getting chicken chimi & tamales for years. This was by far the worst food we've ever had. CHICKEN Chimi was all bean filler. And Tamale was half the size it's EVER been! So bad we asked bartender over loud ass music if there was a ownership change. After she told us NO, we noticed we were one of few people inside actually eating while cook was playing video poker. Never had a bean burrito for chicken chimi. And homemade tamale was terrible. Was there for dinner. Waitress was very poor. Ask for our bill it took 15 minutes for us to get out bill. We were charged for 3 beers when the couple with us had the beer on their bill.
