Grille Billy's — Restaurant in Fairview

Omg, I’ve not had this good of barbecue since I was a child! When I was a kid, my father was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Madison, TN, and they would have a bbq fundraiser every year. My sisters and I would stay up all night helping to stir the hickory-fired smoke pit and turn the spit. There was a man who would make a “secret bbq sauce,” which was so very tasty and complimented the barbecue perfectly. Over the years, I’ve given up on trying to find a bbq location that could even come close to that amazing flavor - until I tried Grille Billy’s this past week!

This restaurant is a hidden gem! You would never even know that it’s there if you drive by it while in local traffic. It was my friend who introduced me to the location, and I told my boyfriend that we will have to make an hour-long trip just to get a good meal - seriously! I am willing to travel over 55 miles, in one direction, to get this good of food again!

The staff are super kind and friendly, too. The joint is clean and smells delicious! The portions are extremely generous, as I made two meals out of the one that I got. Their mac-and-cheese does need some salt and pepper, and the baked beans need a bit of something spicer in them, but you can easily season it using their yummy bbq sauce, which tastes exactly like the “secret bbq sauce” that I had as a kid when eating from the Kiwanis fundraiser. To top it all off, they make delicious cornbread pancakes, too! 😋 I no longer have to search for good barbecue...

I ordered a BBQ sandwich, the Philly Cheese steak sandwich, and the grilled sausage. The sausage was a little dry but other than that no issues with it, the BBQ sandwich was good except the first few bites tasted like lighter fluid but only as far as they didn't let the fluid burn off completely before adding the meat, and I have yet to try the Philly but I will update as soon as I do. Overall a great experience but not as good, so far, as Mission BBQ.

Edit: after finishing everything and making stops there for more food over the last few days I have been trying a few more items as well as those in my original review and we'll, Everything has been amazing. While I won't drive an hour to the closest Mission BBQ I would happily drive an hour and a half for Grille Billy's. I look forward to my future orders and great prices for MICHELIN Star...

I just drove 40 miles to come to this place and I love it. This old country store was nice. Everyone in there were great to talk to and the BBQ WAS AWESOME. Come get ya some, it's worth it. Next time I'm get a BBQ sandwich without sauce. You just won't need it. Thank you for your hospitality, Ray Ritchie...
