They seem very new. I got the hot mess burger because I figured if I'm there I may as well go all the way. Their menu is a little bit confusing and due to that I didn't know right away it was called a hot mess burger. The way that it looked it seemed like you were just supposed to call it messy. So I confused the folks checking me out. Nothing a few design tweaks couldn't fix. Or maybe it was just me. It could be me because I also thought they had sloppy joes sauce not sloppy sauce. I was really looking forward to some sloppy joe sauce on my burger and then I realized I read it wrong.
All of that being said, I thought the burger was pretty good. It was big and it was definitely messy. It came with a bib which I would have preferred to have been logoed for a better picture opportunity but again, they seem new so maybe that's in the future. I also wish they would have included a wipey for their messy burger but luckily I keep them in my car for moments just like this. I will say that their sloppy sauce they put on the burger was pretty delicious that coupled with the slices of ham really made the sandwich in my opinion. The egg was a pretty perfect over medium and of course the yolk gave some extra flavor as well. I think knowing the ham is so delicious it would be great to go back for some breakfast sandwiches to see what they do there. The fries were pretty good. they're pretty standard fries but I saw them cook them right then and they coded them in some pretty empty chunky salt which I love so it was pretty delicious.
It is a food truck type atmosphere. Which means you are standing in the hot sun waiting for your burger to get ready. what is lovely is after your meal is delivered, you get to go sit in the shade at their picnic tables which was quite enjoyable.
The service was pretty fantastic. People were great, even those visiting for their own dinner were talkative and upbeat. I was there at about 4:15 and in the time that I waited, and I do eat fast, there were probably six customers in and out so I thought that was pretty good for that time of day. I heard someone mention they ran out of food yesterday, so that leaves me to believe they stay fairly busy.
Overall, it was not the best burger I've ever eaten in my life but it was definitely worth the stop and definitely up on the list. I recommend you stopping if you're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA Hot Mess Burger sounds like it's going to be a hot, drippy down to your elbows, meaty, scrumptious burger, right???? Not this place. Nothing drippy or even good here. My biggest disappointment was that this was a thin and flavorless burger that appeared to be steamed. The meat alone was wet, gray, and had zero grill or sear. Although, The bottom of the bun had been seared or toasted. The next problem was: I ordered it "without cheese" and whomever did the cooking... not only steamed it, but wasn't reading and loaded it with cheese! I'm not lactose intolerant, and there were people online, so I just ate it, so I wouldn't have to wait even longer to have another one made. The special sauce that is their version of Thousand Island is just that... Thousand Island or Russian dressing. Nothing different. The sweet tea is Pepsi tea and taste mostly of simple syrup and no tea. I like mostly unsweetened tea and asked for 1/2 cup of sweet tea and a cup of water to dilute it. I'm glad I tasted it first because I didn't need too much water since there wasn't much of any flavor of tea to begin with. Speaking of water.... they don't have bottled water as part of their beverages. What place doesn't have bottled water for non soda drinkers?? They did have tap water that was doubled filtered. The front counter girl was very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. She ordered the meal correctly. Hot Mess Burgers is a shipping container converted to make a fast food roadside stand. I generally steer away from fast food, but honestly, I'd rather eat at McDonald's or Burger King for better flavor. Parking is good. And they do have dining tables. But the tables are outdoors only. So if you want AC or a bug free environment... this place is not for you. My biggest takeaway is..... the burger was terrible. I won't be back, and I won't recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start of by saying Iām not one to typically complain.
Please take the time to read the rest of this.....my review of this place after trying it for the first time.....We both ordered the double and added bacon to ābothā. They proceeded to repeat our order back to us before we paid. Wasnāt long after that we got our order only to find out only one of our burgers had bacon when both were supposed to. I went back to tell them and had to wait around for someone to even acknowledge I was there. When I finally got to tell them about our incorrect order I was asked to give them our receipt which I did. Then was told to wait even longer while our order which included fries/onion rings got cold. Finally I was told that I had to pay for the bacon that they forgot to add to our burger (their mistake) not mine. I told them there is no way Iām paying for something that yāall should have had right in the first place. The employee proceeded to get smart with me and thatās when the extremely rude owner Francesca came over and I explained to her what happened. She then rudely gave me my money back and rudely said ādo you want your food for free or not?ā I said āI never asked to have my food free I just wanted the bacon that I was supposed to haveā. They then proceeded to make the entire order over again which keep in mind I never asked for and didnāt want to eat it because I was afraid they had tainted it so we ate the food that was already partially cold instead. Needless to say the food was decent but after being treated like this by an employee and even the owner there is no wonder this place is called āHot Messā they have lost my business for good!
Also didn't have a public restroom which in my opinion is unacceptable. Think about people that have medical conditions that have to have a bathroom close by! Not even a place to wash your hands...
