Isshin Japanese Steakhouse — Restaurant in Fairview

We are just passing through and this has great reviews so we tried it. First the good. We both had selections from the hibachi grill. The vegetables, fried rice, soup, and salad were all very good. The hibachi seasoning/sauce was very good. The fried ice cream we had for dessert was amazing. My (half-Asian) husband also ordered sushi, but because it was so busy, the sushi came after we finished our meal. He said it was good, no complaints.

Now the bad. The hibachi meats were not cooked to order. We both had steak, one ordered medium and the other medium rare, but they were well done for both of us. The chicken, likewise, was overcooked - dry and tough.

It was an acceptable dinner, but we're not likely to go back if we pass...

Food, customer service and menu was terrible. Menu doesn't specify quantity of sushi. Employees don't know what there doing. The owner was very rude to me when I was speaking to him about an issue I had with my order. Instead of giving me his full attention he was ignoring me while helping other customers before I called him out. Ordered shrimp lo mein and California rolls and it was horrible. Portions are very small. Could have went to the food saver next door and got better quality shrimp. And Publix has way better sushi. First and last time I'll ever eat there. Should have went to Jade Wok, there food never...

This was our first time here. We ordered take out. We chose Isshin because if the reviews. We ordered chicken teriyaki bento box, shrimp veggie tempura and crunchy shrimp roll. We did not receive dipping broth for the tempura. The chicken was very bland as if the chicken was boiled and then the teriyaki just poured over. The spring rolls were a bit doughy. They hardly had any filling. We did enjoy the crunchy shrimp roll! For the price, $51, we threw away too much food which was unfortunate. We wished we had just ordered several of the crunchy shrimp.
