I order pickup from here all the time and have never been disappointed!! The quality of fish is top level, the rolls are carefully crafted. The customer service is very warm and welcoming!! This place deserves all the recognition.
In more detail review - the fish has always tasted very fresh and never freezer burnt (an issue I encounter often with other places). Small details too, like when you order a roll with shrimp tempura in it, most places leave the tail on which is kind of annoying - not here! They take the tail off before putting it into the roll.
My favorite appetizer is the nachos - I havenāt seen this anywhere else. The scoops chip base adds a very unique flavor and texture that really elevates the dish. Itās like the crispy rice but less base more fish, and still crispy. 10/10.
My other go-to is yay yardley roll. Love it. Thereās another one I tried with seared scallop forget what itās called but that one might be my new favorite.
Iām not an expert in sushi but Iāve been to some of the top famous places in NYC and Philly. If you want takeout sushi that tastes high end, this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe really wanted to try a different sushi place out since there arenāt many quality ones locally. I ordered take out: edamame, Japanese fried chicken, Haru Salmon Roll and Fishtown Roll.
Edamame- nothing special and lacked sea salt
Japanese Fried Chicken - not sure what that was because all you tasted was fried breading that were tasteless and overcooked. The pieces were smaller than a chicken nugget. It was awful unfortunately.
The Haru Salmon Roll was fresh but why pre-chop the fish with spicy mayo? It was average
The Fishtown Roll - missing the eel and the same pre-chopped fish with spicy mayo except I got a slice of jalapeƱos on top. It was literally the same roll as the Haru Salmon Roll. (I saw the pre-chopped fish in the container while he put it on top).
I love the fact that it looks like a father/son team operating this. I would recommend they both wear appropriate chef clothes and not a gym outfit with an apron and jeans with an apron. Itās the little things that make the biggest difference. I wish them the best but we wonāt be coming back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have tried most (if not all) sushi places within a reasonable driving distance and Haru is clearly in a different category.
Their dishes are EXTREMELY fresh and the flavor combinations of their special rolls in particular are outstanding (the Beast Crab Roll is a personal favorite). I've been coming here for ~4 months at this point and the consistency is worth mentioning - the item you loved last time will taste identical the next time which is a testament to their attention to detail and just straight caring about each thing they make (also evident from the presentation of each dish as well). It is highly impressive. Oh, and the service? I don't think it's possible to be friendlier.
Overall Haru is phenomenal and that is definitely not a term I throw...
