We were driving home from Memphis and feeling a bit peckish. One of my friends found this restaurant on a “near me” search and we decided to go for it. It felt like we were driving out to nowhere but we pulled up to what looked to be an old gas station turned into a lovely roadside restaurant. A few tables outside, a couple welcoming signs we wandered in and order some fried cheese and a couple pizzas. First off, our server was enthusiastic and didn’t mind taking her time to encourage us to dive on in. The fried cheese was home made and chonky…like generous triangles of crispy, crunchy cheese. I think the regular cheese bites weren’t quite frozen enough for the fryer but she did say they had some pepper jack cheese bites. Very good. We ordered a ruxin and our friends ordered a margarita pizza.
The crust was handmade with a nice chew, tender crispy edges and slight bits of char. The toppings were really simple but nice. Ours had creamcheesyoniony dollops, thin sliced jalapeño, pineapple and a drizzle of a sweet/spicy habanero glaze. Our friends had nice tomato, mozzarella and basil.
Overall it was pretty incredible. I hope they have many years ahead of them because I fully intend on driving an hour for that pizza...
