I am going to preface this review by saying that I rarely leave reviews, however, our normal Chinese place, which also has its issues, was closed on the day we ordered and we needed to look for somewhere else. I chose to try China Lee because it has pretty good reviews and you can order online. We ordered 7 entrees, 4 sides and and 4 appetizers. The honey chicken tasted like it had been burnt and then breaded. The beef and broccoli, and hunan beef were okay...not great, just okay. The general Tso was mostly batter and not spicy. The happy family was okay just lacking in flavor for the amount of meats and vegetables that were in it. The boneless spareribs and teriyaki chicken were both dried out and left something to be desired in taste. The bourbon chicken was not as tender as I am used to but I'm only mentioning it as I wanted to review every item we got. I had to re crisp the sweet and sour chicken prior to eating as it was soggy by the time we got home. The spring rolls were okay, but again something was just off with it. The rice, while we did get a lot of it with the meals, all tasted like it had been a frozen TV dinner that they just reheated prior to sticking it in the to go containers. It lacked good taste and texture. We got chicken, plain and pork fried rice. I am a rice-a-holic and eat rice at most of the Asian places we go to. This just wasn't good rice. The veggies that were cooked with the meals were good. The dumplings were good. We were also missing 2 sides, the white rice that came with an entree and the vegetable lomein from our order which we didn't realize until we had driven home. We will not be...
Read moreLet me start off by saying it pains me to say these things, because this place USED to be the bomb. My family and I would come here just about every week. I grew up on it, and the food was always great. Never any issues. Friendly staff and the likes. Well, that's a thing of the past. Food is bland and unattractive. Staff is distant and not very friendly anymore. Told them we wanted to dine in, and the food came out in boxes. My wife and I were splitting a meal, and were given no extra plates. Dining area was not clean at all. Chairs and table were sticky. And there's legitimately cobwebs in the corners of the room. It was warm in the dining area as well. If you have this little respect for your dining area, how does the kitchen compare? This place just seems to be a husk of what it once was. Just feels tired here. I believe They no longer do the buffet either, which sucks. The price has also gone up. We shared this meal, and got 2 drinks and teriyaki sticks. Total is over 30 dollars. For these prices, id just recommend getting the hibachi buffet down the street. Same price and you get a variety of food. Sad to say, but we probably...
Read moreUpdated 2024: now after negative food inspection scores and drop in quality of food I will have to say eat here at your own risk. Sad to see this place go down hill. Possibly caused by lack of proper management. 😓
I have been going this place for years now and it is the only Chinese Food in Knoxville that I enjoy! I'm so sick of everywhere else. This place always makes your food fresh and will start cooking it a little after you call if you need time to travel. Just ask! They stay open pretty late until about 11pm so that's definitely came in handy during plenty of my late, hungry nights! I am a loyal customer here.. my favorites are the House Fried Rice, Fried Chicken Wings, & Pork EggRoll. They also have a great lunch special Weekdays until 3pm.. sometimes i'll use that opportunity to try different things. I also enjoy the Sesame Chicken and the Sweet & Sour Chicken. The lady at the cash register is always nice and there is also a really nice man with a short haircut that works the register usually later in the evening. This is definitely one of my favorite...
