We recently had an incredible dining experience where Asian Indian-inspired cuisine meets traditional Southern hospitality in a truly stunning setting at Stonebreakers Restaurant.
From the front porch, you can take in beautiful views of Old Main on the University of Arkansas campus. The hotel and restaurant are simply gorgeousâthe decor is a perfect mix of simple yet dramatic, with rich jewel tones in the moody lounge and a light, bright feel in the main dining room.
Our evening began in the lounge with our amazing bartender Stephanie. She crafted a vibrant, dill old fashioned and a refreshing strawberry spritzer for us to sip on. We then moved to the dining room with Megan, and started with the pimento cheese appetizer served alongside grilled sourdough. The cheese was rich and creamy, perfectly complemented by the crunchy bread. However, the absolute standout was the caramelized cabbage appetizer, prepared three ways: grilled, baked, and steamed, and served with toasted spicy peanuts in a savory broth. The unexpected flavors, the char from the grill, the firm texture of the cabbage, and the satisfying yet spiced crunch of the peanuts delivered an unforgettable sensory experience.
For our entrées, my fiance' had the Wagyu burger which was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and served with homemade crispy potato wedges. I chose the Vindaloo Hot Chicken, opting for a level 2 spice which was the ideal balance of heat and flavor. The chicken was served on a bed of sautéed fennel and spiced grapes, and the combination was a masterpiece. The curry spiced chicken, with its licorice notes from the fennel and the sweetness of the grapes, came together for what was, without a doubt, the best bite of the evening!
This restaurant is a true culinary destination. It's a place where diverse flavors come together beautifully, a meal you'll be happy to return to again and again.

Read moreThe hotel feels corporate. Lots of dark black grey colors. Almost austere. Feels architectural but no comfort at all. The food is precocious (not real, only an idea of food) - the menu too & the prices are exorbitant. The food is not comfort food. It's only an idea of food. We ordered multiple things - caesar chicken salad (awful tasting chicken, the lettuce is wrong, what is that on the top? the overall taste terrible, could not eat it, the over effect again precocious & not real. We ordered the Wagu burger, it was dry, cold, the burger pattie was very small, the roll cold, the sandwich itself very dry, the potatoes terrible too. Could not eat it. Not plated well. We ordered a fruit plate...it was so tiny with 'placed' fruit - where was the fruit? Again, precocious - an idea about food, but no real food that is comforting or tasty. It reflects the corporate nature (unreal) of the entire hotel. What happened to the idea of beauty & comfort? We would not recommend this hotel or...
Read moreThe service was good, if a bit overdone. We were seated by the hostess, then some other person came over to tell us some things I donât remember, then finally our server came so we could get going. The building and decor are really nice, but it was so loud inside that we couldnât enjoy a conversation. We had the âFrisĂ©eâ appetizer and both of us had the Caesar salad for our main. The FrisĂ©e was a tasteless plate of weeds that had no hint of âcarmelized butter vinaigretteâ no shallot, very few walnuts and only three razor-thin pieces of apple which seemed more for garnish than an ingredient. We asked that it be taken away uneaten and ordered the Sheepâs Milk Pimento appetizer, which was good. The Caesar salad had moist, tender chicken slices yet still fell short as it was dry with no dressing, little Parmesan and few bread crumbs. We left having mostly eaten bread ($9 for three pieces of grilled sourdough toast). The bill for two (with no...
