Hocker's Family Restaurant is the newest Crab house & Seafood Restaurant that opened in Oceanview, Del. The Atmosphere is Family friendly & the staff wonderful, with smiles on their faces. The food is plentiful, the menu has something for everyone. The Bbq platter outstanding & smoked in house daily. If fried chicken what your craving? The Hocker's Fried Chicken Platter is a must. The Fresh Fish is delivered daily & hand cut in house. The position are very generous and are priced just right. In the 2 weeks ive been in Del/Md The food / portions have been the most economically so far. Crab Cakes what can i say? Hocker's Crab Cakes are the real deal jumbo lump, minimal filler & simply broiled. I didnt try the steamed crabs, but i asked the tables next to us how they were? Amazing replied both tables. Try the Cheesy Bread made in Hocker's Grocery store just a few blocks away. The Bar has a nice collection of specialty cocktails & plenty of TVs to watch game. Only opened for a few weeks, Hocker's Family Restaurant is a great starting place to enjoy dinner with family or on a date. We had a great visit! Crab Dip appetizer was exceptional! Brisket/Ribs seriously the best we’ve had-and some of our family members don’t even like BBQ. It was a surprise to enjoy!? Swordfish was fish of the day, and a great healthy option. Also appreciate very much the gluten free roll and dairy free cheese options for burgers. The dairy free chocolate Hershey’s icecream was also amazing (I’ll go back for just that alone)! Oddly, hush puppies and sweet potato tater tots also took up by pleasant surprise? Where do you go and mention that as a highlight? They were that good! Tastefully decorated. Not louder than most crab houses HOWEVER it did appear there were quieter seating options along the outskirts of seating areas. We didn’t mind it much at all and we do pay attention to noise levels… Food arrived pretty quick-especially for a newer restaurant.

To describe tonight in two words? Pleasant surprise!

The food is terrific, however, it is overshadowed by the poor service. We had dinner at the bar this evening and 1.) we don’t know either of the bartenders’ names because neither introduced themselves, 2.) eye contact was non-existent, 3.) the bartender couldn’t make a Tito’s and soda without assistance, 4.) the other bartender was so busy with the service bar, she couldn’t even pour.a beer from the tap for someone waiting for 15+ minutes at the bar, 5.) after ordering and waiting 25+ minutes we were told the fried chicken would be another 20 minutes (in case you lost count, that’s 45+ minutes—for fried chicken! A SIGNATURE DISH!), 6.) our other dish was brought to us separate from the chicken and we had to instruct the staff to return with it when our entire meal was ready! This was our 3rd time there and was the absolute worst experience so far! Not sure there’s going to be a 4th, if they don’t get their act together!
