Witte's Bar-B-Que & Catering — Restaurant in Floresville

Wife and I have been telling each other every time we passed by Witte's that we should stop by and try it. So, while my boys were visiting, we decided to go to dinner and stopped by. For a Friday, it wasn't too packed, no wait and sat down right away. Our server came by semi wiped down the table, picked up here tip from previous guest making a comment about how much was left. She left us our menus and would come back and take our drink orders. When she came back the table behind us and a small child that started to scream a little, that didn't bother us but seemed to seriously bother our server that she had to roll her eyes and grimace. Once taking our drink and food order she left what looked like as frustrated. She later came back with drinks and when asked if we could have another glass of water, she rolled her eyes and saying "gimme a minute" walking away making a huffing sound. Our salads came out and one of them had the wrong dressing on it. We told our server when they brought out our plates and she said with a tone that it was correct because that what was what she wrote. She looked at her paper and say that it was not, so she went and got the correct salad. When asked to have a couple of more drinks, she rolled her eyes as she walked away. Our food was not the best, sausage and brisket were dry, and the burgers were over done, burnt taste to them. Service wasn't good which I could understand why she was left the tip she got from previous guest. The food could be better. We have passed by Witte's many times over the last 4 months we are new to the area and I always said I like to stop in and try their food. We ordered the family meal with brisket, ribs and with 2 sides the large size. For our sides we got the mack and cheese and mashed pototos with brown gravy. We also wanted to try some other items on the menu they were out of our first choices chlli , gumbo, beef stew and vegetable beef soup. They were out of those. We settled for the chicken and rice soup, chicken dumpling soup and an order of the okra gumbo. We drove fifteen minutes to home to have our dinner. I was starving had not eaten all day. We opened the containers and were very disappointed as to the lack of food 4 or five broken peices of over cooked brisket and three tough rib bones. No tablewear and not one napkin. The sides were box or can quality. The gravy might have been one of the store bought canned gravies and the mashed potatoes real pototos but no flavor just boiled pototos. The soups had no flavor or seasonings. The chicken and rice was like mush with a water flavor. The chicken dumplings was thicker then the gravy with a sweet taste. The okra gumbo was from at least two days ago the okra was reduced to just the seeds no color and slimy. The Mac and cheese broke our hearts. All and all I will not be returning it was not worth the 65.00 for dinner for three people. Witte's may have been great but they have lost that love that the food needs so so desperately. Friendly service and nice quaint place, however the food was really dry. The brisket was really dry and looked as if it wasn't cooked properly. There were some very thick slices and chunks the size of your fist, and extremely dry...very very dry...overcooked and not fresh. The sausage although very good flavor was also very dry. The BBQ sauce is nothing more than pepper tomato juice. The mac and cheese was more mac and grease. There was no flavor and it had no cheese. The beans were delicious. I also ordered a hamburger and french fries. Initially the hamburger tasted great, but after awhile I started feeling extremely bloated and not feeling well. The fries were just "eh". Also got a small coleslaw and that was actually good. Overall, won't be going back. I wouldn't recommend, but if you wanna take a chance to ahead and try.
