I brought my boyfriend and his two children with me here today because we had a craving for Italian food and didnât want to drive twenty minutes into Brandon. After visiting this restaurant today, I wish we had made the drive.
During the pandemic, I enjoyed getting pizza at this establishment so wanted to try it again when I had company. There is no seating inside the restaurant. The seating is outdoor only. The seating consisted of bench style seating with chairs that had no backs, so it was not very comfortable while we waited. The wait for the pizza and pasta dishes was over 30 minutes while we were told a 20 minutes wait for the food.
As far as service, when the food is brought to the outside tables, it should be brought with silverware and napkins, you shouldnât have to ask. I also thought this was important to mention because you have to go in and out of a heavy door to enter the restaurant.
In addition, the pasta dishes we ordered included garlic knots which I had been looking forward to, but after tasting them they had absolutely no seasoning and had a cardboard-like texture. We asked for garlic sauce to see if it would help, but it appeared thick and buttery and also had no flavor. We also asked for shaker cheese for our pasta dishes and they provided cheese packets after we asked. It should have been added to the food to begin with đ. The side salad to the pasta dish was mostly romaine lettuce with one tomato and had Italian dressing that tasted like plain oil with a few small slices of onion. This place reminded me of cafeteria food with the way the items were individually packaged the way that they were. The only options for drinks were bottled drinks or canned sodas. I can order a to-go pizza and have it delivered to my home and sit outside on my patio and it would have been less expensive and more comfortable for me and my family. The bill was $52 for 4 people to dine there. The quality of the food that we received in return for the price was unacceptable.
Overall, there was nothing notable about our experience to return. The service was lacking and so was the food and the atmosphere. With all the homes in the FishHawk neighborhood where this restaurant is located, it should have been busy on a Saturday evening and I know now why it was not. We had a very disappointing experience and had really wanted to enjoy it :( We will not...
Read moreI ordered a couple of pies two weeks ago. Weâve been here a few times and it was always pretty good, especially for being in the neighborhood. One of our pizzas was a Margherita, with mushrooms and half anchovies. What we got was a mess. Instead of fresh basil on the entire pie, there were dried (cooked) leaves on one half of it. The mushrooms likewise ended up mostly in the center/one side and what appeared to be a can of Hunts diced tomatoes dumped all over it. Iâve included a picture of the pizza.
Of course, I hadnât inspected it when I picked it up, but called when I got home and opened the box. The young lady who answered the phone listened to my complaint and then just said, âyou gotta talk to Salâ and put me on hold. After a minute or so, Sal picked up and was very dismissive, but did admit he knew that he only put basil on part of the pizza. He didnât want to talk about the mushrooms at all, but finally said he would take care of it the next time I come in.
I can get around a place not knowing how to make a proper Margherita pizza (shouldnât have it on the menu, but whatever). What I canât get over is an attitude like that. I spent $50 at this place, and when my order wasnât what I expected, I politely pointed out the issues. Instead of an honest apology and a solution to make it right, I got attitude and a vague promise to âmake it rightâ the next time. Well, Sal, there wonât be a next time. Amiciâs may be super convenient, but bad food and crappy attitude lost you...
Read moreI just had my 12th meal at Amici's on Thursday April 5. I will start out by saying the food is always great, but I must agree with another review that the customer service is not always so great. Many of our orders are carry out and only a few have been where we eat at the tables outside of the restaurant. I had family visiting from the cold north and we biked down to park square for pizza. I ordered 2 large pizzas and knot-chos. Went in to pickup the food and asked for forks. The older gentleman (owner maybe?) gave me 1 fork and a knife. I said can I get 5 more forks? He said forks for pizza? I said no for the knot-chos and then he gave them to me. So essentially, I had a $63 order and left a $3 tip on the receipt just to be nice, but I had to justify why each person needed a fork. In addition, one of the pies was loaded with toppings and required a fork anyway. I would really rather you post a sign on the door saying please bring your own utensils, or just charge for them so I know going in that plastic forks are at a premium. I will say I have never had any problems with the younger/high school folks working here, they have always...
